Test drove a G8 GT...

And I have to say I was really impressed by the car. It had the 6.0L in it and for being a bigger 4 door car that thing moved! I'm used to my camaro with 530 RWHP but the 6.0 felt really strong. The car was quieter then the SS inside and was really smooth at crusing speeds.

I was expecting it to ride like a GTO, to me they feel a little "rigid" if that makes sense. Like a 4th gen camaro, but the G8 felt like a caddy crusing down the highway. It had no wind noise at all, I put it in sport mode and was playing around shifting it (it was an auto) and it actually "blipped" the throttle to match tire speed and engine RPM's.

I had no idea the car could do that and was quite impressed! Does that auto camaro do that? Overall I wouldnt trade the camaro for it but for anyone who needs the room of a 4 door it would be a super nice car to have if the camaro wasnt an option. Just my thoughts.

I don't know why Pontiac won't get it together and put out a muscle car that looks the part, referring more to the GTO...I do like the numbers though.

Pontiac.....

I thought Pontiac went away with the GM restructuring. Solstice is gone now too, although it was only a little roadster. I would love to see them come back with a new Firebird/Trans Am, and especially the GTO (one that actually resembles and performs like the original).

Poncho died about a year ago. There is some talk about bringing the G8 back as a Chevy however. I beleive they tossed the Caprice name around for it but from what I heard GM is on and off and on again with the idea.

I was seriously considering an '09 G8 GT when I bought the Camaro less than two months ago.
I think Chevy should sh_tcan the excrutiatingly boring current Impala and replace it with a rebadged G8 and have the GT be an Imp SS (which they quitely dropped after '09).

I have read several places (rumors) of GM bringing the Holden G8 back as a Chevy (Impala possibly). If GM was smart and I think they are, they will do it eventually. There is a market for a 4 door sports car from GM and the G8 had rave reviews. I SERIOUSLY hope that GM comes through on this and makes it happen. I had planned on purchasing a G8 until Pontiac went belly up, which I think was a mistake. In my book, they should have sent Buick packing. I know they're trying to change Buick's image and appeal to the youngsters, but as long as their parents own a Buick, no kid is going to buy one.

Anyhow, come on GM.......bring back the G8 to America!

Technically, it is a Chevy now. But you can't buy it unless you aspire to pull over Camaros

G8 is a Holden Commodore
Caprice is a Holden Caprice.
the caprice is more luxary and the commodore is more sport.

Oh yeah, it would've been brilliant to kill a brand with a major overseas presence that commanded high transaction prices but keep a brand that sold nothing but rebadges of existing unprofitable cars with no future.

And duh, no kid is going to buy one. No kid can AFFORD one. A 2012 LaCrosse starts at around $30k. They aren't meant to appeal to kids, they're marketed heavily towards professionals with a few years of work experience under their belts who want to upgrade from their entry-level cars.
