My AWESOME 2 days in service at 400 Miles.

Hey guys,

So i just bought my dreamcar as i previously posted.. ive been a long long member of the chevy family, my first car being a '92 RS Camaro, then '84 and '85 corvette, '98 trans am, and today a '11 camaro.

2 Days after i bought my '11, the AC stopped working (on the freakin hottest day of course)... thats fine, i'll roll the windows down and deal with it and call service in the morning.

So i call service, they say they cant fit me in for a few days... ok cool, i can bring it in next wednesday, i've lived without AC during the summer before. Wednesday comes and i drop off the car. They couldn't get to it all day so they want to keep it overnight. At least they offered to pay for a rental, which i didnt take, since i work in the city and its more inconvenient to deal with rental paperwork than have my GF pick me up from the train.

Next day, they say the car needs a AC compressor but its on backorder. I can get my car but i'll have to bring it back to get it installed when it comes in. OK thats cool. At least its getting fixed.

Now the shit that pisses me off. They guy says they're replacing my front licence plate bracket... ok...why? it looked fine. Well, in the time we moved your car around, we parked it in a municipal parking lot and someone backed into your car. Theres no body damage but they banged up your licence plate and the holder, which we're replacing.

Seriously? I dont even have 500 miles on this car. Everything adding up now, I'm starting to get pissed off.

Am i crazy for this? I've owned the car under 2 weeks and this is the thanks i get. With my cars i've owned lately im glad to just even have remote locks, but come on, i just dropped 30 grand.

I 2 would be upset and would make sure you get the front end checked out and not take there word for it. Those little bumps you don't see could have been something much bigger IMO. I wouldn't go nuts on them , but I'd certainly get it looked into man that's your ride. Good luck. At least they brought it your attention also and didn't hide it.

That is body damage, imho. Better inspect for further behind the scenes additional damage as OP says. And I wouldn't sign anything saying I woudn't pursue legal action in case I later find there's something else wrong.

I didnt sign anything when i received the car back, as i am still waiting on a "special order" part..

However it does say the bracket is an "internal" parts replacement, and nothing else as to what has happened. I did inspect the car myself and i have looked over and under and i dont see any damage. I dont know if this really warrants me spending money to get a damage report on paper from an outside party either.

It just really bothers me that i havent even got to my 3rd gas refill and there already a confirmed accident.

The more I read this site, the more I'm starting to think that the 'new' GM is not much better than the 'old' GM. Crap cars and shit service.

Cant complain about my Chevy dealership. I have a 09 Tahoe and a 11 SS. They have always been top notch for me. All warranty work done in one day never had to leave my car over night. Last week they replaced my air compressor on my SS. They had the parts overnighted from Detroit. Dropped it off at 9 had it back by 4. Sorry you guys are having trouble with your dealerships.

That's the stupidest remark I've EVER seen on this site, EVERY car manufacturer will produce faulty vehicles occasionally. They're MACHINES. My LS is by FAR the finest vehicle I have EVER owned in 40 years of driving, I drive it about 80- miles PER DAY and it has preformed flawlessly. I have never had a single issue with a GM vehicle, and have owned GM almost exclusively, the only real trouble I had with a car is with a Nissan 350Z.

As for the service, my dealership has been OUTSTANDING, even going out of the way to help me research mods. I get my oil changed at the dealer, and the rack is RIGHT NEXT to a customer lounge and you can watch the tech and ask questions. ALWAYS friendly and complimentary (they LOVE my car). I've never been this impressed with a car or the service...

SO don't fault GM because of a few lemons, every manufacturer makes lemons. I'm PROUD of my GM product, Most of my family have worked for GM and I know they're PROUD of the products they produce...Go get a ricer if you ain't happy...

Stupidest remark ever read on this site? Sorry you feel that way. I have three Chevy's in my driveway, and have owned nothing but GM cars (purchased new) in my long life. Its just my impression after having owned them, and reading MANY posts about terrible experiences others have had with their new vehicles and the dealerships who repair them. Its just my opinion. Get over yourself!

You're bashing GM on a Camaro site. You can't tell me you don't expect a negative response back. Every car manufacturer is going to have minor problems in some vehicle. I doubt you've ever had any car that's never had a problem. So don't start bashing GM when you've never even owned anything but GM. You'd probably be disappointed on the other side of the pond too.
