Rented convertible 5th gen.

Went on a honeymoon with my wife to Antigua last month and on the way back our flight from Miami to Atlanta was pushed back to a late night flight. So the wife and I decided to stay the night in Miami and take a flight to ATL the next day in the afternoon.

After we left the plane at the airport we ran over to AVIS were I was planning to rent a BMW but when we arrived at the AVIS counter I saw they had an Orange 1LT convertible for rent. I quickly decided to pick it instead of the BMW as I plan on buying a 2SS/RS. I wanted a good long test drive since I've driven the '12 5.0 Mustang but have never driven a 5th gen Camaro.

Needless to say we had a great time and though it was a V6 and not a V8 we still had loads of fun riding around with the top down. I was actually surprised at the exhaust note of the V6, very sporty. I loved keeping the revs up on the semi-manual automatic. The HUD was also impressive, makes keeping your eyes on the road much easier.

One of these days I maybe able to upload pics but not right now as I am a civilian contractor currently working in Afghanistan, the land of super slow internet. I really hate slow internet. Anyway thanks for reading.

You've driven a 5.0 GT, and you're planning on buying an SS? Good man! We'll be very happy to have you here. Mustangs are for girls, by the way.

Lawdog, I rented a convertible in Indianapolis a couple of weeks ago and it was $149/day* but there were also $50 a day in taxes. It was a 2011 6.2L L99 SS**. Don't know if that translates to Miami dollars or not. I rented online at Avis.com

* I got a discount for being a member of the ADA (American Dental Association), it was about $7 or $8. But they have discounts for many things (AAA, etc)

**Someone DEFINITELY put 87 octane in it at some point.

Faster isn't always "Better"
I am sure you can also get a Go-Cart that is faster 0-60 than a Camaro SS but it still isn't better...

It cost about $210 with a GPS if i remember correctly.

I have been on the fence about getting a 5.0 'stang or a 5th gen Camaro but my wife now wants a Camaro since the ride in Miami (I got her right where I want her ). Plus I like the looks of the Camaro better, I like that it has indenpendent suspension all the way around, and the performance difference compared with 5.0 'stang is only marginal.

I wish I could trade our Camaro for a convertible...that is the one thing I miss about my Sky.
