Really sad story.

We had a gentleman (I wont be using his name out of respect to him and his family) come in about 3 1/2 months ago and buy a Camaro. It was a gift to himself. He was being stationed in Afghanistan and asked us to store it one of our clean up bays until he got back in September. Not only did we store it, but the clean up guys washed it once a month to keep it nice and ready.

We just received a phone call from his mother. He was killed while on duty. Obviously she was completely distraught. I can't imagine having your son die in combat and having to call someone you dont know to take care of something like a car you know your son never really had a chance to enjoy.

I am the Internet Sales Manager here and had occasional communications with him through email. Mostly assuring him the car was here and safe with a few light hearted jokes. He was such a a great and amazingly nice guy. I pray his family gets through this as best they can. So many people serve to protect us and we only hear of them as a number on the news. I don't know to honor someone like him for what he did for his country. I guess that's why I am posting this. I'm honored to have met him.

Rest in peace.

The worse news a family could get is a loss like that. Our prayers go out to the family

Perhaps you and the family can arrange to have his Camaro be present during the funeral procession and internment.
May God bless our service members..

It is a damn pity that we are losing American soldiers over in Afghanistan. I can't remember the last time our lame-ass politicians and media did a good job explaining why we are still sacrificing soldiers and national wealth. If this was a real war of national security, we'd all be lacing up our boots instead of jacking-off and wasting time on a car forum.

Thanks for sharing as it really makes our daily lives and trivial tribulations seem very small in comparison. Thoughts and prayers to his entire family.

Any chance you know what branch of the armed services he was in?

This will determine the appropriate response from me. (Don't want to give a soldier an "oohra" or "Semper Fi" by accident).

May he find peace and his family the solace they need.

I hate to hear of a fellow service member making the ultimate sacrifice. I'm in Iraq right now on my 5th deployment and I'm due home in less than 30 days myself.

As far as the camaro goes...I'm not sure what the family plans on doing with it but could your dealership provide the family with a 'Honor and Courage' badge set? Seems somewhat appropriate and they can choose to put it on the car or not.

It's a simple token but I think the family would appreciate it.

Thank you! Bless you and all our troops! God Bless those who give the ultimate sacrfice! And all who suffer the pain of the loss.

It is and always has been, those who put their lives on the line to defend this country... define this country. And no matter what politics are played in Washington... our armed forces are the best that have ever walked the face of this planet!
