Is it possible to make a warranty claim for our paint ?

Just a thought I'm vary anal with my car and I put more care into that then anything else but every time I wash my car I find more chips, not in the front but on the side of the car. Out of all the cars I have owned I never had this issue and I know everyone is talking how thin the paint is. Has anyone thought about trying a warranty claim, the paint is part of the warranty right ? Its just fustrating for me when the car is 2 months old.

I believe it is for 100,000 on factory defects. Chips are considered wear and tear, the only way to avoid them is not to drive your car. You can put all the clear bras you want on also, the chips will still happen in areas that you didn't cover.

Simonize it. It's a little salty but worth it. I have done it to my last 3 vehicles and it really holds up and keeps the new car shine.

Solution: Splash Guards

Paint chips does'nt have anything to do with the paint quality. IMO it's mostly the design of the car. The gills section is larger than the rest, so rocks will hit that section whatsoever.

Only solution: EOM Splash Guards

I installd them May 2010 and I did'nt get a single chip for over 15,000 miles.

Cheap solution, likely less than 200,00$ installed. They have most color match.

I drive mine daily for my work commute. The paint job is the worst I have seen out of my last 3 vehicles. Not just the chips but also the non-uniformity in the paint color from panel to panel. I figure I will have to get it repainted in a few years...the way it should have been done at the factory.

The paint is a pile of crap. I'm going to my dealer and demanding a repaint (as politely as possible). My car is a couple months old and I have orange peel on the front and rear bumpers, side mirrors, and door handles. Absolutely ridiculous.

Read your warrantee. Orange peel, dirt in the paint, yes, you might have a case, but the rock chips, that's caused by road conditions and it's not covered. I put the quarter flares on (as shown above) and it's helped a lot.
I think it's all the sand and road debris that does it, keeps the car in a constant state of sandblasting. The dealer tried to tell me it was because I live on a gravel road. Give me a break. I drive less than 20 mph on my 1/4 mile of gravel, and they had a rental camaro on the lot with similar miles, and the damage was as bad if not worse than mine. Can't tell me that rental only did miles on gravel.

Good luck with the orange peel case... as laquer paint isn't used anymore, factory paint has orange peel. It's not covered.

Not true , even if you don't drive the car you will get it , unless you park the car in a giant safe garage and throw away the keys , if someone walks by you car in the garage it will happen !

I don't get any more paint chips than on my Honda...I rotate cars, drive the same route, same speed. I did get in incredible number of chips in the plastic headlight covers, though. None on the Honda, dozens on the Chevy. Go figure.

I have them as well. Did you ever notice that the side of the of the guard that faces the rear of the tire has a nice large pocket for all the slush and crap to collect it during the winter?

Why not make that side nice and smooth so any accumulated slush wouldn't collect so much.
