Freak NY Hail Storm destroyed my Camaro *Video*

Freak hail storm happened today in New York, Westchester county to be more exact.

As the video shows, many were the size of golf balls. I couldnt take any pictures yet but I have over 100 quarter size dents on the hood, roof, fenders, trunk, and rear quarter panels.

Not sure how this will play out with insurance but its definitely covered. Probably around $10,000 in damage but Im no expert.

Im already trying to turn a negative into a positive, since they will probably have to replace the trunk and hood maybe I can get a new hood and a carbon fiber trunk?

I feel terrible right now...

Hail damage is usually totaled. Looks like a new car may be your future.

Push for that.

What did it do to the other cars? I ask because mine was damaged by hail (goes in the shop early September) and I was told it is more susceptible to hail damage because of the aluminum.

Exactly what Im thinking. The maxima in that video has an aluminum hood and that got trashed but the rest of the car wasnt bad at all.
Mine was the worst on my street.

Mine wasn't even close: $6,400.00. New hood, new trunk and a bit of damage control on the roof.

I've never been in a hail storm, so this might be a dumb question? Cant you run out there and try to cover your car with something heavy?

Im going to need fenders, possibly a front bumper, a windshield, and idk how they can even fix the roof, on top of what you listed.

No. That's a very quick way to get beat half to death. :-( They're literally like rocks made of ice falling from the sky. Even pea-sized hail will beat you nearly unconscious; much bigger than that and it becomes a really dangerous deal.
All you can really do is sit there and watch it tear up everything.

We just bought a new car. One of the things the try to upsell was som stupid coverage on all vertical panels from dents and scratches. I asked if they didn't cover the horizontal panels bc hail. He claimed that hail typically totals the car because it damages too much and it's nearly impossible to repair the roof. They end up having to replace everything, then paint the entire car. It usually isn't worth the trouble for the insurance company.

I'd push for a total. Especially if it broke the windows. you need fenders, quarters, trunk, hood, roof, glass, paint, trim, moldings... See, all ads up.

The guy with $6500 damage got off light. Hail damage is bad news.
