Street Scene Splitter Prep???

I was able to score one of these from Amazon's Warehouse deal for $100.00 shipped. Based on previous post's I figured that I would need to sand and prep prior to installing. The finish is a bit rough (as expected) But I am planning to keep it black and was wondering if anyone had any tips?

Mine I Sanded gently with 400 grit sand paper and went over with a scotch brite pad. Wiped down with wax and grease remover, sprayed bulldog adhesive promoter, and painted, It looks great. and have had no issues with it.

Do you need a special paint with a flex additive?

Did the splitter not come with prep/painting instructions?

I just did my Version 2 splitter and I sanded it down with a 150 with a sander, then with a 250 by hand. Put 1 nice layer of primer, sanded it down by hand again with a 250, then primed again. Sanded it down one more time by hand with a 250 then applied the base coat. Applied a few coats of clear and waited till it dried.
So far so good. Drove from AZ to CA one and a half days later (5 hr drive) and no rock chips at all. Sprayed the bug splashes off when I got home and no paint came out. Still looks brand new, no flaws.
Do a good prep work and the paint will hold I guess...

I used standard base/clear dupont auto paint. Still looks great.

no need for primer with plasti-dip, just make sure the surface is clean of any dust, particles,etc...
