Magnuson 2300 3 yr/30,000 mile warrantee question...

To all,

I have decided on the Magnuson 2300 SC kit for my 2010 L99. I have a question though. I like the idea of the 3 yr/30,000 mile supplimental warrantee but I will be using my engine add-ons that I already have, those being:

Roto-Fab CAI
Dynatech Supermaxx LT headers
Dynatech High Flow cats
Corsa cat back 2.5" exhaust

My installer will be sending the ECU back to Magnuson for their custom tuning so my question is this, Will Magnuson offer their extended warrantee if I use my existing add ons?

If not, there will be other upgrades for sure, like conversion to LS3 valvetrain and blower cam.

Thanks,

Why aren't you asking Magnuson?

Jon@MagnaCharger is a rep on these forums, you can ask him. But his statement to me was the following:
"If you are looking for the powertrain warranty one of the major stipulations is that it be installed by either one of our Dealers, a Chevy Dealership, or an Certified Mechanic. To have the warranty you also need to keep your factory air box, headers, and catalytic converters and run the tune that we provide."

Thanks for the help stiletto7. You are correct. To qualify for our supplemental powertrain warranties you cannot have aftermarket headers, cats, or intake. With those modifications you CANNOT run the provided tune which is a major stipulation of the warranty provider. However, should you decide to keep those components stock then you would be able to choose from our 3yr/36k, 5yr/60k, or 5yr/100k warranties.

Oh, and if you plan on an LS3 conversion make sure you order the Manual Transmission version of our supercharger so you get the Valley Cover you will eventually need. The only difference between our LS3 system and the L99 system is the inclusion of that cover.

Jon what if you bought the SC and did the LS3 conversion a year later, like myself. Will there be any problems i need to be aware of ?

I did that. I had the supercharger installed last year. This year, I had a cam put in and the only thing I had to do was get a valley cover because I had the LS3 conversion done. I never worried about the magnuson guarantee because I already had a lot of other mods (headers, etc.) and I had a custom tune.

I don't let warranties get in the way of me having fun with my car. However, I have an excellent shop (IPS Motorrports) that guarantees their work. They always take good care of me and my car.

Make sure you have a good tuner tune your car on a dyno.

Jon,

Thanks for responding to my post. I will be having City Motor Company in Great Falls Montana do the installation. Talking with Ken who is the shop manager, he told me that they send the ECU back to you at Magnuson and get the tune tweaked. Then they try it and tweak it over and over until its right on the money.

Is this true? City Motors is the Magnuson Dealer in this area and Ken says they install quite a few of them.

Just curious if this is how things are done from one of your licensed installers and distributors?

I assume you guys would be able to tune the car with the add ons I have currently. Not looking to run the ragged edge and get every last HP, just want a good, safe, strong running engine.

Thanks,

Darth,

I am not concerned with warrantees much either but if one is available it would be a good thing. Most everything we do to our cars voids some portion of the factory warrantee. Right now, there just is not alot left covered by my factory warrantee. Like you, not a big deal, just the price to have fun!!

Again, that said, if you can increase performance and get an extended warrantee, having and eating cake!!! To good to expect however.

IF the Magnuson warrantee is not allowed with add ons, looks like more add ons coming!!!

Thanks for your replies.

Thanks,
For the 2010+ Camaro our systems now come with an SCT handheld programmer (only when this system first came out did the ecu's have to be sent in to us). The tune that is in the handheld is designed for a car running the supplied 3.8" pulley with the stock airbox, stock headers, and stock catalytic converts. We cannot tune for any modifications on vehicles so it is left up to your tuner to tweak the tune to match your modifications.
