Solo / MRT

I have been looking at exhausts for awhile now, and once I pay my camaro off I will be ordering one. I have a few questions about the differences between the two I have been putting back and further, Solo and MRT v2.

I understand that the solo is a full exhaust replacement, what does that do for the car for performance/fuel economy? The one downside is the price.

I have also been looking at the MRT v2. It is alot cheaper, but it is a cut and replace for the mufflers only. So is that just a sound difference, or does it have a performance/fuel econ gain?

Finally, there is the question with the welding when everything is done. What does that do compared to just the clamps? This is more for the MRT, considering I haven't seen anything about welding the Solo yet.

Good question. I have done a lot of 300-600 mile trips in my Camaro recently. I have the SOLO Mach X LLT exhaust but mine is mated to Stainless Works LT headers and Random Tech HFC's. At a steady 60 MPH my trip computer sez the car is getting 35-36 MPG. I could never touch that stock. Maybe 31 tops. I think I could get 32 at 55 MPH. The SOLO is 2 1/2" stainless steel tubing all the way. I have to believe it's going to breathe better than an axleback only setup. Not by much though. I believe ARK offers a 2.75" exhaust. There comes a point however when you start losing backpressure and performance. I'm just not sure where that threshold is for these motors.

I have Solo MACH X LLT J Pipes. And I love them. I did'nt look at the gas-milage since I don't think it save that much with any exausts.

What I recommand is to go to car shows or Meet&Greet and see and listend to what people have. Ask questions and mostly try to get a ride and listen to what YOU will hear when driving, because that's all you'll ear....

Solo's are top quality, easy install, no welding and mostly NO drone at cruising speed. But when you press the pedal, it's something else. Sound gets better and better with time. Last heard: 899,00$ shipped.

But to answer some questions, rather than just "I love my xxxx"...

I seen a performance gain with my MRT Ver 2.0 and I also seen my MPG go up! Don't think you see much more performance with a cat back, since the big suitcases are the main bottleneck and you replace those with both an axle back and a cat back.

As far as clamp vs weld with the MRT. You don't HAVE to weld the MRT. There are certainly a number of folks that just have them clamped on. Some folks have experienced movement with the clamps, seems to always to be the passenger side. Welding makes sure things never move... but like I said lot of folks never have them welding, including me.

Nope... haven't had any reports on Poison Ivy... However my 2005 V6 Mustang, "The Mistress" has resurfaced!!! Showed up back at MRT ... The current owner wanted to know more about the car and have MRT give it the once over...

TEAM MRT..........Leading the way for Camaro V6 exhaust. Every poll that has been conducted shows the MRT's sells more than anything else. I would say approx. 98% of the owners have LOVED their system once they were installed.

The MPG does go up. Many of us have proven that. Changing the stock exhaust to the MRT's will drop 32 lbs. off the back end.

This system can be added in your backyard. Good excuse to go buy a saws all (makes quick work of the cutting portion). I changed mine out in minutes. I then had them welded in place.

Cheaper than all the cat back systems.

Sounds better than all systems too (IMHO)

As scrming pointed out and others have shown the ARMY is arriving.......

rtcat600man, question for you or anyone else.

When I had my system welded, the tips are perfectly straight and centered BUT 1 side seems to be a bit more in (or out, however you want to look at it) then the other. I only noticed it as I was cleaning them and the difference is less the 1/4 of an inch. I'm sure this is not an issue, but from a looks standpoint should I ask the muffler shop to fix it, or just leave it well enough alone? I’m inclined to leave it as it’s not noticeable (until you notice it).
