i was thinking of powdercoating my rims black but it depends on how much it costs. anyone have any idea?

My local powder coater does it for $75 per rim. That includes media blasting the rim to bare metal and then powdercoating whatever color you want. The finishes these days with powder coat can also be anything from flat to high gloss. It's truly the best way to add color to rims, IMHO.
