h/c/i l99 vs built evo 4

Airstrip. I have video but won't promise it seeing how my friends are all mentally retarded and it takes them months to send me a stupid video.

Anyway, evo 4 new turbo boosting 22 peak 26. cammed. all bolt ons.

380whp 2750lbs vs my jre cammed l99 4000+lbs with me in it.
He's runs in the 11s.

From 0.
He immediately pulled about 5 cars on me. At about 90mph I started creeping up. Shut off at 120 but I was gaining on him hard. I'm sure I would've passed him.
Another run from 0 I didn't launch all hell broken loose on him. Eased into it. Still spun. Top of 2nd finally got traction, he had about 4 cars on me. This time at around 80 I started creeping on him. By 120-130 when he shut down I was about a car behind and steadily gaining on him.

From a roll ...

Did 2nd gear 3k rpm pull. Immediately got ahead half a car. Shifted got another car. Cut off at around 120 with 2 car lead and pulling.

Re did -- same result. Shut off every time around 120-130 and I had a solid 2 cars and was gaining.

This was done on a mile long airstrip track we have here for drag racing. Since we lack equipment for 1/4 mile (staging lights, et equipment etc) we just shoot down the runway until a certain point to test our cars.

Am very impressed by the L99. Cam really opened her up. Things a nasty little demon now.

yeah AWD cars are monsters in the 1/4 from a dig. completely different story from a roll through. You take that launch advantage away and much slower cars can dish out a beating.

Cool kill, I had a similar result (only did a roll) against a FB black turbo + supporting mods Evo 8...Everyone was saying how he would kill my car. Ha.

Oh. I thought you had aftermarket cylinder heads.

Not that it matters or that I am ribbing you.

But when designating mods with letters the h in h/c/i stands for aftermarket cylinder heads...not headers.

Damn, must be cool to get the cars we aren't allowed to have. If I saw an evo IV I would be pretty pumped. Those are some sweet little cars.

Yeah man.

The car is DAMN NICE. Only that it's right side steering wheel. Kind of trippy to see haha. But the car itself is so damn nice.

A friend of mine actually claims the car actually weighed 2300lbs w/o driver. Driver is like 150lbs. The thing is deathly quick, even from a roll it's hard for me to pull away.

Im curious how this person has an "upgraded" turbo and only makes 380hp. I almost made that on in my old evo8 w/stock turbo. My motor was a 2.3L stroker with a built head (sounds funny saying that now). With cams and everything on the stock turbo I put down ~340hp at 20 psi. Its kind of funny how some evo guys get a tiny aftermarket turbo like HKS (which also cost an arm and leg) and make crap for power, but they are proud to have "something JDM". I say good kill and watch out for a properly tuned gt35r or better turbo evo, they're friggin nasty!

He has an fp green turbo. I don't know much more about the car. Just know he's boosting 22 with a 26 peak and the car is pretty damn nasty.

He -CLAIMS- 380awhp. There's no awd dynos in this country so it's all speculation.

Sounds like from the dig he easily took the 1/4th with your trap speeds when you "let off", and from the roll you beat him due to more HP to the wheels and less shifts. There are two main evos, and the gearing is short for the "racing" one for acceleration in and out of turns, the "touring" version isn't far behind though, they are always going to "run out of steam" as they approach their limit, if he's at 380 at the wheels in those cars that means about 440 at the crank, not too far off what I'd expect with that turbo, but it doesn't sound like a very agressive tune either. How far do his injectors go? That's usually the limiting factor when you bolt on a turbo.

Well said! At ~22psi, 380 seems correct for an FPGreen. He needs to up the boost to actually make the OP work for his kill
