I have noticed this in a couple other cars with the radio display of the same plastic material. They all seem to scratch very easily, I was thinking of a piece of clear mylar like the chip gaurd on the outside of the cars would prevent this, but I am not sure how that would look on it.

Heres the TSB from GM on polishing it out....... Service Information ![]() 2011 Chevrolet Camaro | Camaro VIN F Service Manual | Document ID: 2677727 #09-08-44-015E: Radio Display Screen Scratches and Scuffs (Polish Display Screen) - (Jun 20, 2011) Subject:Radio Display Screen Scratches and Scuffs (Polish Display Screen) Models:2010-2012 Chevrolet Camaro 2006-2010 Pontiac Solstice 2007-2010 Saturn SKY This bulletin is being revised to add the 2012 model year. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 09-08-44-015D (Section 08 - Body and Accessories). Condition Some customers may comment on scratches and scuffs on the radio display screen. Cause This condition may be caused by wiping the screen with a dirty cleaning cloth, paper towels or wiping the dirty screen with a bare hand. The high gloss finish on the radio display screen may have a tendency to show these scratches and scuffs. Different viewing conditions, such as bright sun light, may also make the scratches more apparent. Correction A GM-authorized dealership or detail shop may use the following procedure to correct the condition. Any scratches that are not removed by this procedure are too severe to be restored. Do not attempt to use a more aggressive material to remove deep scratches. The use of more aggressive materials may dull or damage the display screen.

Ghost Armor
I read about Ghost Armor on previous posts. So I decided to try it on the Radio face.My car was new so I didn't have any scratches on the radio. It went on easy and seems to be tuff enough to resist goughing if the radio face is bumped or rubbed against.-Dont know if it will cover existing scratches, maybe if they are fine enough.

Had it before the car arrived. Then put it on ASAP before any scratches could be on it. Absolutely no issues. They make a complete interior kit too, but not sure how much you would need that.

Ghost armor is the best...precut to fit. Don't buff out scratches, you're just gonna scratch it again..duh. ghost armor also will cover up scratches as long as their not too bad. Expensive but worth it

I put the entire GhostArmor kit on, including radio face, all gages, headlights, fog lights, and front turn signals.

I have the complete Ghost Armor kit: radio face, gauge cluster, speedo/tach/DIC, headlights, turn-signals, tail lights, door handle cups. The only complaint I have about them is the tail light ones are a tiny bit too large and a pain to get the bubbles out from under. Other than that, they are great and all but invisible.
I even have their kit for my iPhone. |
