Thumbs up Farewell V6'ers...

I've lost my mind and decided to trade in my 2010 1LT/RS for a new 2011 2SS/RS in Synergy Green.

I've been thinking about this for a while and finally did it before I could no longer buy a new SS in SGM.

I'm sure I'm going to miss my V6 but my concerns with the Aisin AY6 manual transmission's long term durability and relatively limited availability of good performance parts for the LLT were pretty strong driving factors in my decision. I still think the LT/RS with a manual trans is the best balanced all around option out there for daily drivers. Unfortunately, based on my track record, a V8/AT combo usually does well with my driving habits and easily keeps going for 200k miles or more if I take care of it right.

I'm glad I was able to help out in getting the Vararam V6 intake into the hands of people on this sub-forum. It truly was a fun process working with the guys at Vararam as they brought this intake to the market. Guess I'll need to pack up the couple of VR intakes that I have and see if I can make a deal with them for a V8 intake.

Dang!!! Just realized that I'm back to square one and will have to spend months researching new exhaust systems, intakes, and other bolt ons for the SS - I've completely ignored them for the past 2 years...

Good luck to everyone with the LLT/LFX, I really hope my assumptions about the longer term durability are unproven and all I really did was waste money just to get a different color Camaro. Either way, it's still a Camaro! See you on the roads...

That is probably the best description of what happened. I spend 10-12 hours a day, 5-6 days a week, working in a stressful software development job and every time I see a synergy green Camaro on my commute, it just makes me smile. Can't always say the same for victory red anymore...just too many of them out there now.

I now SGM is kind of love it or hate it color but it reminds me of colors that people opt to use when they paint old cars. Bright colors that catch your eye! That's probably why I love SGM...

Yep, you'll still see me from time to time. Heading out to Sealy tomorrow morning to hang out and catch some of the racing at the Texas Camaro Nationals.

I think the V6 is a great option for a daily driver and suits most people just fine. Just be wary if it has a manual transmission, if you plan on keeping it for a long time. When I bought my V6, my plan was to keep it for at least 10 years so I could teach both of my kids how to drive a stick and then pass it along to one of them. After having my transmission replaced at 13k and the new one acting up again, it was just time to give in and move on. I really considered a V6 SGM but didn't want the non-LSD rear. Now my plan is to just keep my SS for longer and neither kid is getting it.

haha, same. Although I do find it fun when I go to the drag strip and people find out I just beat them with a "slow V6"

With the right bolt-ons, there isn't such a thing as a "slow" V6. It is deceptively quick unless you're lined up against an SS with a S/C under the hood.

This it too funny!
I just did the exact same thing, except I traded in for the same colour.
I just traded a VR 1LT for a VR 2SSRS with the inferno interior.
Got my girlfriend in it at night for over 10 mins before I asked what she thought.
She knew something was up, but couldn't put her finger on it.
I confessed.

Truthfully, I hated that tranny!
Reverse was in the worst place when trying to find first halfway through a left turn with oncoming traffic screaming towards you.
I also was always clashing second when trying to shift fast from first.
Never had that timing problem with any other car ever.
Anyone else have that problem?

Wayyyyyy nicer car. We will never have to sheepishly explain that it is 'only' the V6.
Way to go bro!
