CAI System comparison

OK, I couln't find any of this in the Bolt-On Discussions, but does anyone have a comparison/strong opinion on the CAI kits out there for the V-8? I know K&N is the big name, but I am looking for anyone who has tried it and other systems. Ease of install is a factor, as is performance, looks and filter effectiveness. Fire away everybody.

Cold Air Intake Independent Testing Results by Jannetty Racing

I went with Airaid Intake (250-243) for price and previous experience with that brand.

Install was easy with the exception of the ground post relocation.

I've been wondering the same thing - I hear great things about K&N, CAI, and Roto-Fab. I'm debating which to get myself. Any idea if you need a tune after the install or if an intake voids the warranty?

This is the test that you want to look at. It's still Jannetty but it's the last one he did and it's got all the major players that wanted to compete, in it.

Just installed my Rotofab. It looks great, install was easy, good quality, made my car sound meaner, and performance was boosted a bit. Very happy. You dont have to get a tune with it. However once you start modding you are going to get so much more bang for your buck when you get tuned. It seems to complete everyting and make everything run stronger and smoother.

Installed the New Era OTR on my SS last night. Great improvement in low end throttle response, sounded mean as hell. (Deeper through the higher RPM range)

Not one driveability issue on the stock tune. No surging, no bucking, no herky jerky.

Looks badass too.

Installed a LMR yesterday and I am thoroughly pleased with the performance and the new sound. LMR comes with the K & N filter. Bought it on this site used for $135 and is a fabulous find. Great find on here as others are changing their mods and reselling what they had on their cars.

My CAI, Inc was easy to install and it works great. Filter after 8K was not very dirty but I did clean it.

Good luck.

I'd go with the LG cold air. It's an easy straightforward install.

Give Anthony 972.429.1963 a call and I bet he'd make you a deal on one.

CAI won't void your warranty unless it does something like such water into your engine or over oil your filter and get that all up in the engine.

After seeing a co-workers Air Raid CAI, I decided that a sealed box was a better way to go. The seal on top of his air box became distorted after a while and I wondered how it was supposed to even seal any longer. Other manufacturers use the same type of design. My decision was to go with a CAI brand intake because of the sealed box design. I'm pretty happy with it. Only took me 45 minutes to install once I first read the instruction books.
