Possible Clutch Issues with Rosie - Kind of Frustrating.

This is what Transpired That Leads Me to Believe the Clutch Was Damaged:

Monday evening, I was caught on a very short approach ramp to the Interstate. I was positioned to approach main traffic lane from a complete stop. I put car into first gear anticipating the need to accelerate quickly into the first available opening in traffic. As I found a spot into which I could accelerate, I let up on the clutch pedal and pressed the accelerator.

Not much happened, the clutch pedal came up from the floor about half way and I noticed blue smoke coming out from under the car. The engine, hit the rev limiter, at which point I let off on the accelerator pedal. I found the clutch pedal stuck half way up off the floor. I pulled it up with my foot and proceeded to accelerate.

This did not re-occur. I could definitely smell what was a burning odor inside the vehicle. It had never happened before during my time owning this car.

Anyone who knows me, knows I am pretty gentle with my Rosie. Have scheduled a dealer visit for this coming Friday.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

Yes, lots of people have had this with the pedal sticking,it's in the trans/driveline section. The dealer will tell you it's operator error, that you don't know how to drive stick etc. It's an on going problem, and unless the dealer can get it to :duplicate" the issue for them thye will do nothing about it. It's a poor design with the clutch fluid resevoir. There are many threads about this,it's a shame with it happening to so many people gm won't do anything about it. It happened to me twice, so fa though the clutch still grabs so all is ok with mine there is no slippage. Sorry to hear you have this too.

hopefully your outcome will be better than mine, because they couldn't get it to do it they wouldn't even open up the tranny to look, said that it didn't warrant all that work
because it wouldn't do the same thing for them Good luck!

Picked up Rosie from the shop.

Well, just picked up Rosie. They Mechanics, did the repositon of the clutch master cylinder. Of course what happened to me (in my OP, didn't happen again), no surprise there as it didn't happen again to me either.

To be perfectly honest, this is a major disappointment to me. I really love this car. When one shells out $40k for a car, this shouldn't happen. I am not ready to throw any darts, spears or arrows, yet.

But dayum, thsi really is a buzz killer.

I am not a typical fanboy...Chevy (GM) at all costs. I have been very upfront about that. I don't bash Mopar or Ford cars. But, my patience is wearing thin.

There is an awesome Challenegr SRT8 - Fuchsia color with 600 miles on it for sale close by. Six speed, and the works on it. Doggone tempting right now. I need to cool off.

That's how disappointed I am right.

8700 miles and two major transmission related (clutch) failures. Not something about which I have much patience.Especially since I have been driving Manual Transmission vehicles my whole life. This ain't my first ride in the rodeo.

On the plus side, though, the folks at Talty Chevrolet in Morris, Il are top notch.

I understand your feelings exactly.

I had always read about this issue and thought I was out of the woods until it occurred twice in 3 weeks back in July. After that, I was increasingly weary of how I treated that clutch. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago, and I'm now driving an auto and actually enjoying the cruise now. Don't know what it is with these clutches.

Well, I drove Rosie for over 120 miles yesterday. Mix of freeway, country roads and city driving. No problems so far.

What really got to me was the fact that the initial incident last Monday evening, compromised the safety of my Wife and me. The inability to accelerate properly onto a crowded freeway was very troubling.

I really hope this doesn't happen again. Being that this seems to be a known problem, perhaps GM needs to step up to correct the problem. It isn't operator error. Too many people have seen this problem happen.

I am not a typical drum beater, but when it comes to my safety and those of my loved ones, I will not stand pat.

yes, it does suck, it happened twice to me like I said, you would think with all the complaints it would be an easy fix to keep alot of people happy and continuing to by GM.

You got that right. I have been pretty much a supporter of his car, but this is testing my patience. With so many having this problem (just on here alone), one would expect maybe some action to fix it.

When Safety becomes an issue, I take no prisoners. Pondering my next actions.

Well, a couple of months have passed. Any more problems with the clutch or have you traded Rosie?
