That always is a tough one..
If its your only car then you are forced to trade in unless you can afford to buy the ZL1 and then sell the SS.
OR buy cheap decent transportation THEN sell or trade your SS for the ZL1..
Then if you don't need two cars sell the cheap decent transportation after the fact.

i have to trade in my ss ): i mean i dont put that many miles on my car now... but i got offered 28k early this month... that 3k less than what kbb, blackbook, and true car say my trade in is worth ): this is what i need help on how do u know how to negotiate if your getting ripped off? ):

That's 3 grand more than Hurd Chevrolet in RI offered me for my 2SS/RS. My bottom line number is 28.5 and the aren't going above 26k. Apparently, they are going through the auctions for about 25k. I'm pretty damn sure my will be going out on the front line, not to the auction. They can pound sand. I really want the car, but I can wait for a 2013 if they want to be greedy.

Nope, not trading it in. I will make it my daily driver and put the ZL1 next to the chevelle for weekend duty.

The problem is that those numbers are only "suggestions." Your car is only worth to the outside world, what someone is willing to pay for it. To you, it may be worth a lot more. Dealers know the game and they play it very well, which is why they are still in business.

Another problem you stated is that it's your only means of transportation. That means by the time you can get the other car, more miles will have added up.

If you want your car to hold value, unfortunately, you have to stop driving it. Even then, it will still depreciate in value.

i mean like i said i only drive it when i need to... i only rack up 200 miles a month since my job is a quarter mile from my house... i just hope 800 miles added to it when trading it will hurt the value.. i cant take anything less than 27 or im in a deep hole ):
