Ebay Camaro - Can this be right??

Doing my weekly Ebay search tonight and ran across this listing on a 2010 Camaro SS...........

Here's my question...........the VIN is 2G1FR1EJ8A7107509 and promises delivery within 2 weeks.

Wouldn't that indicate that this is car is the 7509th off the line??

If so then things are moving along nicely at the factory and almost half of the pre-orders are built.

Just wondering?????

yea i think your right. i been reading camaro stuff all day and i think the mole said 200 a day since the start but car 7000 seems high

I don't think that vin is correct. Look at the other vin numbers the seveth character is 9?

I would say that is a made up vin.

Yes it is to high of a number, but Ebay is becoming a hot bed of scams lately.

If what the mole is saying its accurate then they should be around 4000.

This is the 5th week since production started taking the 2 days they took off for easter its been 20 working days.

20 x 200 = 4000

I've watched a ton of Ebay listings for the Camaro, but most have stated a bunch of on delivery dates. IMO, they have no real clue of "when" but they sure do know how to get their bidders hopes up.

I really wish EBAY would ban these kinds of auctions until a later date, but if some of these actually sell, EBAY stands to make some easy money just like the rip-off and over-pricing dealers.

It's a technically valid VIN. (check digit, etc) but the series code doesn't exist for Camaro and the plant code portion for all production Camaros begins with 9, not 7. Not to mention that this would be an absurdly high VIN for the current production levels. They would've had to have been building over 350 cars per day since day one to get to 7000. And we all know that isn't the case.

Yea, I just made them up but they're partially valid as the check digit is right and the first block (2G1f) is valid. The rest... not so much. Just as valid as the one in that ebay listing.

EBAY's rules allow anyone to sell a pre-order car........as long as they use certain language like proposed or expected or projected. Your basically buying the "Chance" of being able to buy the car in the future.

However, I've noticed that some of the highest bidders didn't meet the seller's reserve.......which has been wayyyyyy more than MSRP.

There's a few rip-off dealers on there but on the other hand, there are a whole lot of suckers out there.
