When is the best time to book a flight?

I recall someone saying Tuesday was the best day of the week to book flights...something about it being the turnover of the week. Heck, I don't know. But there was supposed to be some idea behind buying at a specific time of the week.

Can anyone remember what this is or does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?

(we've been looking at tickets to get us to Florida and flights were 240 last week, but have gone up to 276 per person today)

I once heard someone on TV said that the best time was actually on a Wednesday and at 2 am. I know...weird ! But who knows, you might want to take a peek and check out the prices at that time. ?

I have heard Tuesdays around 1 p.m.

Try today and then tomorrow morning.

Tuesday-Wednesday are the lowest. If you try to fly in or out on Friday thru Monday it'll cost the most.

I always buy my tickets 10-14 days before my trips and try to fly out on a Thursday when possible.

Try and book like you were using sky miles... you will find the saver flights that take the less points there. Then go book the regular way and it will be the cheapest available. Like others have said the tues-thurs flights are good but you can find the misc Friday and Sunday flights using this method...

Another tip is use www.seatguru.com to pick your seats.

the actual day you book the flight? it doesn't matter when you are actually booking the flight. Tuesday's are usually the cheapest days to fly though. The more advanced you book, the better.

Book months before the trip if possible.

Tag - Try this link, it's how I find my flights:

It will search most major airlines and you can even do a full month search if your dates are flexible. It will show the cheapest day to fly in the next month or so if you chose calendar of dates in the Date section.
