NT05Rs on Stock 20" Rims
I had my new NT05R Drag Radial tires mounted on a second set of 20 inch SS wheels and they seem to fit without a hitch. I am aware of the manufacturers recommendations for at least a 10 inch wide wheel, but I read plenty on the issue and especially the Janetty comment that they fit ok on their cars...so.... Anyway, here's a few pics of my Camaro and the new tires. They won't be daily driving tires but, I thought it prudent to have them on the car for a few miles to make sure there were no clearance issues and there are none. They are 28.7 inches tall...exactly that of the standard Pirrelli P Zeros.

What size/width are those? 315/35/20? Thanks for the pics, regardless. I've been wondering how wider tires would look on the stock rear wheels. How doed it handle though?

I know someone that has these on his stock 20" rims with the eibach lowering springs. Plenty of clearance and he runs at the track a good amount. I will be doing the same set up very soon.

Tread width
Quote:
I can't feel a bit of difference in the everyday driving experience. I wouldn't try autocrossing them for sure, but they would suffice for street use in the dry...not in the rain. However, the tread wear will be an issue since they are very soft. I will not use them for daily driving but there are others who do. The tread width is 13" as best as I can determine. The heighth is exactly the same as the stock Pirrellis. I can't find anything that interferes with mounting including brake lines and all suspension pieces. Here's what the Janetty shop had to say about them: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=84310

Why the NT05 and not the 555 just wondering?
Can you tell me does the sidewall look to be the same as p-zeros? |

From what I've heard, the NT05R hooks bunches better than the 555s. No, the NT05Rs definitely have a bulgier look to them compared to the stock Pirrellis.

Now that you have sticky tires, hope you have your car built to hold the extra grip.... My stock rear only lasted about 10 passes at the track before I broke the spider gears..
I'd also be careful, I have read and heard that the stock rear wheels are not wide enough to handle a 315 tire... the rear will feel loose and spongy cause there is to much side wall flex... |

I re-read your post and I see you're in LaPlata. I lived in Waldorf for 6 years, two 3 year periods. You're 20 minutes from world famous "Bud's Creek"....favorite track of "Pass Time" on Speed. I ran various cars there and it's a great track.

Hmmmm???
If you're satisfied with what you read, then I recommend you buy the 555s. However, I didn't buy these without doing research and here's just a few of the sites and comments where the concensus seems to be the NT05Rs hook better (even over the highly touted MTs:
http://www.chicagolandmustang.com/fo...R-Drag-Radials http://ls1tech.com/forums/wheels-tir...5r-nt555r.html http://ls1tech.com/forums/wheels-tir...vs-555r-3.html http://forums.corral.net/forums/drag...et-radial.html Super Chevy put the NT05R against MT best selling street radial. Read the results here: http://www.superchevy.com/technical/...t/viewall.html But, you can google 555R vs NT05R and decide for yourself. Another plus it the NT05Rs are much cheaper than the 555s in a size that I needed. I got mine at American Muscle for $279 each shipped to the door. Every other DR I considered was $330 or more.

What made you move away? Traffic? lol It's horrible here.. even with the new improved widening of the roads at the double lights in brandywine doesn't help much... just moves all the congestion down a 1/4 mile to the new shopping center they put in.... just before you got the the wawa and 7-11 at mckendree road.. |
