SuperChip for 2012 V6?

My first inquiry for my C5 forum friends (excuse me if this discussion is somewhere else - couldn't find it - please direct me there):

I see these superchips that supposedly boost HP and improve MPG. My basic questions are...

1. Do they make these chips for the new (20212) V6?
2. Do these chips really work?
3. Are they easily installed by someone with good general automotive knowledge and abilities?
4. Which ones are best?
5. Is there any way they can damage my engine?

Thanks for any info.

PalmerGA, as Austin stated, they are a scam.....there is NO CHIP.....of ANY KIND that you can plug in lor connect to your car and boost perfornamce in any way.

oh and btw.....

CONGRATS on the new ride, and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to Camaro5. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy.

oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here.

Welcome!!

Thanks gentlemen. I don't understand how these gimmicks can be so widely advertised if they are just scams. I appreciate the info and the back porch invite. I'll have a Saranac Pale Ale, please. No glass. ;-)

I've been putting a mixture of coke and candy instead of gas for about a couple months. Just dyno'd the car... apparently it now has +80 RWHP +70RWTQ and diabetes. Wtf.

A teacher told me once "there's no such thing as a stupid question". Apparently, based on a couple of the replies, my teacher was wrong. Hey... how ya gonna learn if you don't ask?

Welcome Palmer....there are no stupid questions, just smart ass replies. This place is a wealth of information and knowledge but if you don't get at least a few responses like you got above, your question wasn't good enough.

welcome to C5 and dont worry about the smartass responses just a little bit of teasin dont take it to heart. This community can help you learn alot, so dont be afraid to ask questions. Remember, the only stupid question is the one that you dont ask. Thats what i told my troops in the marine corps.

It's all good, wocamp.

I don't mind a little ribbin' and will tend to dish it out now and then myself, once I know my way around here a little better. Semper Fi!

In the world of performance mods, "Too good to be true" or "Too cheap to be true" is something you need to keep in mind.

The obvious and most common mods are the ones that are going to net you the most bang for your buck. you arent gonna find some secret that all the gearheads and camaro5ers dont know about by screwing around on ebay or google.

You were smart to ask first though

My philosophy is that smartasses are just dumbasses pretending to be smart & clever.

I am in total belief, based on what the knowlegeable members here say about my "SuperChip" question. You convinced me there is really no such "wonder" chip for our cars.

What I wonder now is why is there a link to this "SuperChip" site on the Camaro5.com homepage, if it's a bogus ripoff? I would think it should be removed if it's a crock of crap. Or does advertising income trump the truth? Just curious.
