passenger door skin - calling all body experts
The wife's gardening shovel fell off the garage wall and now I need to buy a factory OE steel door panel. Where can I find a door skin? Does anyone have a part number or an idea of cost for the panel? Also, what is involved in the labor? How much time to replace?

Skins aren't an easy thing to replace for an untrained person. Not sure on what cost of the part might be plus the attempted hassle of even trying to replace it. Better off leaving that one to an insurance co and the body shop.

That sucks, I have to replace my door skin as well. You're looking at $1700. I believe the door skin is cheap, the labor and paint is not.
Several deanships and body shops all told me the same thing: The entire door skin is going to get painted and they will have to blend it into the whole side of your car. They'll have to loosen up all the parts they're blending to wrap the paint under the back, as well as take out some of your windows. |

just wondering, is the panel creased it crumbled. because if its just the shovel falling in to it, it sounds dented and repairable, can you post pictures of the damage

Ya you have to remove the door, disconnecting the wiring harness going into it. Then remove the glass so it doesn't get smashed in the process. Grind the edge the whole way around but not too much til you can seperate the skin from the door. then remove the bit of door skin lip that wrapped to the inside of the door. install the new one carefully peening over the new edge as not to damage the new skin. Rechaulk the new skin, paint the jamb reassemble the window. Hang it, wire it, and unless it's a black or white car paint the entire side as too match. And that's the cliff note version.
