Cam install quotes.

Hey guys- do to some of my labor only install quotes coming back with significant discrepancies, I thought i'd ask opinions. This is for full cam upgrade including cam/springs/pushrods/oil pump/timing chain/trunion/etc.

thoughts?

$250 for an hour worth of work? I paid way less than that because I was lazy and wanted them done when I was out of town.

Don't you have a friend to do it? Out here a case of beer and dinner would get you all that done.

14 Hours for a cam install??? Is this a reputable shop with knowledge of LSx motors or is your local Meineke doing the job? It's a 10-11 hr job even for an amateur wrench turner doing it for the first time. The 2nd estimate is FAR closer to what I would expect to pay (if I ever let anyone wrench on my car besides me)

thank you, thats what I was thinking. Just wanted to make sure I wasnt thinking crazy.

The 2 quotes are Chicago based shops,

First being Finish Line Performance
Second being Speed Inc.

if anyone knows of any other shops within a reasonable distance of central Iowa, im all ears.

The second quote is about right for a shop. The first one is comical.

I wish you were closer to me or I would help you. I just finished my Heads, Cam install. I also added the Trunion, LT Headers, Exhaust, C5-R Timing Chain. I spent a few hours each day and ran into small issues. But from what I lean with your what you want. I could knock that out in less than a day.
