To Lock Or Not To Lock

Still waiting for delivery of my first convertible!

Several friends have owned soft top convertibles over the years and most have left them "unlocked" when parked somewhere with valuables always removed or out of sight. Their reasoning was it is better to leave it unlocked than have someone cut the top to get in.

Do you leave your doors unlocked, or do you lock them? I'd probably lock my doors.

Locked, NOTHING in the interior, "the club," 5% window tint and parked out in B.F.E.

If they're gonna get in, they're gonna get in regardless...

Breaking into a convertible by going through the top would be like breaking into a house by going through a wall. No thief is going to do that. The only time someone might mess with your top is vandalism. Lock the doors.

I'm on my thrid Corvette convertible and will be ordering a ZL1 convertible when they're available. My car is always locked. Like woodj said, if the thief wants in they'll get in.

To lock or not?

From the perspective of a 30+ law enforcement officer (and on my 4th convertible) why not go ahead and leave the keys in the ignition or better yet leave it running.
I agree with one of the prior answers that cutting the top would be like cutting through a wall to get in a house. Other than vandalism in those 30+ years I can't recall working a burglary of motor vehicle where entry was made via cutting the convertible top.
Tint on the windows helps not only with privacy but makes the glass a bit more resistant to breakage. But convertible or not, if it is worth stealing put it in the trunk or carry it with you!
Good luck, and enjoy the car and don't worry toooooo much about it.

I appreciate the feedback everyone.

The dealer called me today. My Camaro is on its way from Oklahoma to AZ! Should be a week or less for the transport to drop it off. Hoping they don't damage it.

+2 Sam. Same here, I lock the doors to keep the honest people out. And any valuables either come with me or go in the turnk.

Got the call (actually 3 of them) today that it has arrived. Too bad I can't get there until Wednesday to buy it.

I'll post some pictures up then.
