one-time use nuts?

Getting an alignment right now after bmr trailing arms and toe links. Mechanic said there are some "chemically encapsulated" one-time use nuts that should have been replaced, but weren't. Anyone know what the deal is? Should I worry?

I know the differential uses torque to yield bolts that you replace after you take them out.

I think he said they were for the toe links but I don't know how he came to that conclusion.

"chemically encapsulated" = Use Loctite when you re-install them. Now they're "chemically re-encapsulated"!!!

That's exactly what I thought. Reminds me of when there was a recall on the crankshaft pulley bolt on my old Montero. New one was similar, but it had dry Loctite on the threads lol.

I've only heard of that for the harmonic balancer.

Shoot, even the brake caliper bolts are torque to yield.

I still wish I could get my hands on those manuals.

Really? Could have sworn they were. Oh well it was on a few bucks for the bolts.

This may help some. Every torque spec with a 2nd tightening recommendation is a torque to yield bolt and should be used once. Loctite is your friend!!
