Intake Sensor Performance Mod - scam?

Now I wouldn't go as far as to say the throttle body spacer is a scam Actually back in the carburetors days spacers actually had a big impact. It all depends on the type of setup you use the spacer in and as much as the design it was meant for. The throttle body spacer adds velocity by effectively improving the vacuum response to the TBI or carburetor. In some cases such as intake manifold spacers also effectively increases the runner length of the intake manifold while at the same time increasing the overall plenum volume.
This, in turn, also acts to prevent any of the air-fuel mixture from hitting the bottom of the intake manifold and bouncing back up to scatter in the intake manifold increasing overall performance and throttle response. In saying this, it might not have a huge impact on these new direct injected or some EFI engines, but I don't think it would be a fair statement to say that throttle body spacers are a scam or in the same category as a ebay "super chips" LOL.

Op, you can actually try the "intake sensor" mod yourself for about 2 bucks if you are really curious. It's actually called resistor mod. SLP sell them or used to sell them for LS1 engines called "super chillers" it basically fool the IAT to think the outside air is 30* or whatever temperature is set to mimic. Some actually say it work and some say it don't

Good points but I still stand by what I said, on our cars, it's been proven to give no gains whatsoever. Back in the day sure, when there was a completely different setup or on a seriously modified application, possibly, sure but on a typical Camaro (and practically every other typical car on the road today), it's beyond useless.

There are multiple threads across multiple forums on the TB spacers, it's one of those notorious money wasters out there, will give you the point through that it's not in the same category as the idiotic ebay 'chips' for sure but it's definitely a useless waste of money.
