Balance issues

Hello everyone,

I'm having issues getting my new wheels to balance. Just trying to get some advice. I have a good shimmy in the wheel when I get above 55-60mph.

Here's what I've got:
1. Vision legend 5 wheels 18x9.5
2. P245/55R18 BFGoodrich T/A Spec tires

Problems:
1. Shop put on 9.5 when I wanted the 8.5. Guess it was due to the 8.5 being known to hit the brake caliper, but they didn't tell me they did this. I found out myself a few days later.
2. No hub rings were put on. They're getting some now to see if it fixes the problem. Wheel has 83mm bore.
3. Wheels have been balanced 4 times with the last time being road force balanced. I had a different shop do the road force balancing and the manager advised me that he had trouble balancing 2 of the wheels, but did eventually get them to zero out on the machine. Said there might be a problem with the actual wheel. After each time the wheels were balanced I still had a shimmy once I got going down the highway.
4. The manufactures maximum suggested wheel width for that tire is 8.5.

Questions:
1. Could the hub rings be what's needed to fix the shimmy problem?
2. Could being outside the maximum wheel width by an inch cause these problems? Will this cause other problems or should I get different tires?
3. Any other suggestions? I'm getting really frustrated.

I appreciate any assistance. Reading through this forum has helped me a lot in other areas.

Thanks

This is very important. They usually come with the rims with a sticker over them so the installer doesn't forget. Indeed, that can cause imbalance.

I hate to say this but it is probably your wheels that won't balance out no matter what you do.

I'm not familiar with those wheels but after 4 times it's not going to happen.

Have the tire shop check them for runnout, which is probably excessive, and tell who you bought them from the results.

I wouldn't worry till you get the hub rings on. Right now, your wheels are not properly installed. The hub is what centers the wheel on the car. The lug nuts hold the wheel to the hub. If your wheel requires rings and there not installed, that is most likely the problem.
