IPOD not working

sorry if this has been covered, but haven't been able to find the symptoms i am having.

i plugged in the ipod (1st gen 8GB) that should be compatible, and i get no indication whatsoever on the stereo.

if i hit the cd/aux button i get the cd to play but no aux option.

i tried hooking up a 3.5mm jack cable right to the ipod to the aux input, i know it won't control the ipod, but i should be able to listen to it, right?

didn't work in any way i tried to configure it.

the ipod is loaded with the most recent firmware 1.1.5

any help is appreciated, just want to make sure i am not doing something wrong before i take it in.

Sorry if this comes across as condescension (not my intention), but you did press the AUX key more than once, right? Every time I press it to get to my flash drive, it checks for a CD first, I then have to press it again to get to my drive.

How long have you had your car? A better question: has your USB/Aux input worked before, or has it never worked at all?

It may be the PDIM itself that has started to malfunction if it just started to act up.

If you can verify that your iPod and aux cable work elsewhere, than I would think that you may need to take a trip to the dealer. But they may try to "get you" with labor charges

I had to get a new PDIM module in my car because of the same problem (itwouldn't recognize an ipod with video - a fairly old ipod - even with most recent firmware). The new PDIM fixed it.

Yeah if the iPod won't play using an AUX cable into the headphone jack there is definitely something wrong with the connection on the cars side.

I believe I have the same problem.

Just got my '12 the day after Christmas. The USB input worked fine until 2 days ago. (It worked with a USB thumbdrive and a Zune.) Now neither the USB input nor the 3.5 jack show up in the display... it just switches between CD and radio when I press the AUX button.

Pretty sure I did not stress the physical connector on the USB port. (I'm still at the "don't touch anything because I am afraid to break it" stage, LOL.)

The unusual thing I did at time time was...
I had deleted all the MP3s off my thumb-drive and had put 2 CDs worth of lossless WMA files on it (to see if they sounded better than the MP3s). After plugging the thumb drive with WMAs in the USB port for the first time, it seemed to be indexing the files, but after 30-60 seconds it seemed hung. At that point I put a CD in the player. (That was the first time I had put a CD in the radio.) The CD played fine, but ever since then I haven't been able to see either the USB port or the 3.5 jack on the radio. (Have tried it with the zune plugged in, the USB with MP3s plugged in and nothing plugged in... no luck.)

Sleez, have you gotten your vehicle back yet or have you had the service done for your vehicle yet? I hope this is the only time you need to bring your Camaro into your dealer.

hi Jeff, thanks for chiming in.

i have an appointment to have it fixed (hopefully) tuesday morning.

i will have to take it back when someone decides what is going to be done about the paint chipping. the local rep is aware of it, and is waiting until he gets a more firm decision from Chevrolet.

thanks again Jeff!
