Europeans get all the best cars

Thing is a diesel... I'd Turbo it and get 450+ft/lb of torque

A tick over 13.0 sec. and you're through the quarter-mile. It's a rush, of course, but not overly dramatic. Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

The Focus is cool, sure.. but it's £26k and does single-digit MPG.

The RS5 is totally real, just not released. give it 6 months.

I didn't say it wasn't coming - I said there was no RS5. There isn't. Go to a dealer and ask

The RS3 looks quite nice - but again, it's some ways off release. Actually, the bog standard S5 is nice enough - just very pricey.

1.

2. Audi's are pricey in General IMO.

I agree that Europe gets some really cool cars I'd like to see here, and I like diesel a whole hell of a lot more than I like hybrids. And I like Scirroco's (I had one as a youth and enjoyed the hell out of it). But I can't wrap my mind around putting the two together.

It's already a turbo though, I'm not sure what the TDI's are being tuned to these days but I would expect 450lbs of torque wouldn't be too hard to get to. If gas prices zoom back up that'd look a lot more attractive to me.
