Extended Warranty

Well, I got my letter from "Generous Motors" explaining how they were going to extend my warranty on "Body Systems" it covers much more than just the Convertible top, it also covers, all power windows, motors, regulators, mirrors, lighting, vehicle accessories, wipers, wiper motor, and washer. also covered is "Body Control Module (BCM) and all Body seams. the coverage is for an additional 3-years, or 100k miles. witchever comes first. the coverage is transferable to any future owner of this vehicle. I am happy to see that GM, is stepping up and giving these extensions, so hopefully with the "Top enhancement" repairs done and the extension on warranty, I can have a little more peace of mind in ownership of this vehicle. It cost way to much $$$$, to have to put up with all the potential problems without having them covered. I can live with this "Band-Aid"............... Thanks GM.

Is this something that GM is doing for all convertible owners?

A little more than "No" would be helpful here. How did you get them to do that?

I said no, simply because I have a Vert and they haven't offered me such a deal.

I'm guessing that only the people that have extended issues with their top that they haven't been able to get resolved to their satisfaction 'might' be able to negociate with GM for an extended warranty.

Just because one person was lucky enough to get GM to give them an extended warranty does NOT mean we all qualify.

If you are having problems and want to keep your car, just ask your caseworker. I was offered it but declined as why would I still want the headaches for 5 more years.

Can you post a pic/scan of the letter so the rest of us in the same boat can have some ammo to deal with. My caseworker finally got confirmation that there WAS a problem with some of the tops. It's amazing that many in GM are still in the dark. They are calling my dealership wondering what they (GM Customer service) should do about this problem...Clueless

After I had the "Top Enhancment" repairs done, I simply asked the service Manager for an extended warranty, because I felt the repairs were just a "Band-aid" fix. He didn't bat an eye, he said he would send in the paperwork emediately, I received the letter in about 3 weeks, I got the feeling that GM, has told the service managers, that if a customer requests an extended warranty, to give it to them, because GM would rather do that than have a "Buyback" or "Lemonlaw" issue. I will try to send the document with this thread, here goes!

I haven't had any problems yet, but it sure would make me feel better about my top if they sent me one of those!

Wish I had that yesterday when I picked my car up after I had the top replaced. Thanks for posting it.

Extended Warranty

I was also given and extended warranty on the body system, but it for an added 2yrs or 75,000 miles. I contacted Chevrolet customer service and made a complaint about the top. They first offer me 1 yr free maintenace. I told rep that there are to many horror storys about people having there top replace several times and that I would like and extended warranty. He said that he would look into it and a couple days they called back and offer the extended warranty. Recieved my letter a week or so later.
