Dealer mistake?

I purchased a 2011 Dodge Durango (I know, not Chevy) about a month ago. I have an uncle that is retired from Chrysler so he provided me with a "family and friends" price code to give to the dealership so I did not have to haggle on price. I gave the salesman the price code and he told me the price. It sounded good so I bought the vehicle. I received a call from the dealership today saying they gave me the "employee" price instead of the friends and family price and the difference is about $1300. He then asked if I wanted to pay that difference with cash or check. I quickly told him the salesman provided me the price. I have all my paperwork from the dealelrship and have already made 1 payment.
Unbelievable.

Nope. It's a done deal. Do you think if you paid them too much they would have called you? My guess is no. It's a signed sealed and delivered contract. They're mistake.

But, I wouldn't take it back to that dealership for any type of service.........just sayin.

I have heard of a story like this, and they ended up taking the truck back, and giving the man his money back. Something about it being hidden somewhere in the contract you signed.

Once again, I said I have heard, so it may be completely false.

But maybe lawyer shop and see if you can get one to read the contract pro-bono, and if he can keep you from paying the 1300, give him a few hundred.

Just my .02

HELL NO! its a done deal. I used to work at a stealership, dont give them ANY money. a deal is a deal. Offer to return the car and see what they say and use that same argument against them.

A contract is a contract, each one has to assume it. Ask yourself if they would have reimbursed you if the contrary had happen. Asking the question is anwering it.

If ever you feel you dealer dislikes that decision, i would suggest to find another one as for servicing mathers, don't give them a chance to recuperate their $ at the service department.

Enjoy your Durango...just go to a DIFFERENT DEALER FOR SERVICE.

You owe them nothing unless it is in writing in the contract that they can come back at ANY TIME to re-negotiate the deal.

Think back to all of the paperwork that you signed to buy that truck...a ream of paper in triplicate..they had the chance to find their mistake THEN - just like I doubt that they would re-do the paperwork if you showed them the same error in their favor.

I called Chrysler customer service and they laughed at the story. They basically said the same thing that a deal is deal and you already have signed paperwork. They also said if the dealer continues further and pushes you to pay the difference they would step in. My wife and I have purchased 7 vehicles from this dealership in 11 years. I think our relationship with this dealership just ended.

I had a motorcycle dealer try the same thing with me a few years back. I was in a showroom and the bike I wanted had a sign on it that said $1000 off. I asked for the out the door price... it was surprisingly low compared with other dealers so I bought it that day. Two weeks later, they call me and want more money. Claim that they mistakenly took the $1000 off invoice instead of MSRP.

I stood firm, no way was I giving more money after the fact on a done deal. Took me another month to get the title, I finally called the owner and said send in the tax and title paperwork or we will be in court.

Don't give them another dime.
