hmmm, 5 quarts out and had to put 6 in??

Well finally got around to changing the transmition fluid today. Taking my time I mesured 5 and a touch quarts that I removed. Wholy crap it was BLACK.... Let the pan stay off a wile and drip. Mesured the fluid 2 times, just to be sure and it was at 125 deg.

Heated my new oil up and started pumping it in. after 6.25 qt with the car running it finally started to drip out of the level indicator hole.

So 2 questions Was it low from the dealer??? IDK.. Or did I lose a whole QT somewere??? My son washed and cleaned the bole we used so, I was dismissing the, wht to looked like water droplets, from the drained oil. Now I am wondering if I need to start looking at the radiator over flow and fluid for my missing QT, or just under a QT. Is there anyway that it could have discharged/leaked into the water system??

on the up side of things, I wish I would have changed the fluid 10,000 miles ago. It catches a nice second now, and feels new again...... I think I am going to seek out a trans cooler to install inline with the factory trans cooler to help keep the fluid in better shape. RECOMENDED TO ALL, I had 46,000 on mine and it was just nasty nasty...... 100,000 my butt.

My guess is just low from the dealer. We change mine every few months.Full Trans service. It's actually there right now. I'm hoping I'll get my 1.44 60's back. I can't live with these 1.48's any longer!! Cool to see you could actually feel a difference.

1.44 good grief.... nice. Yea it been a little slugish for a bit now, and would not grab second anymore. it was still firm but, kinda wierd feeling. There was a ton of metal on the magnet in the pan + I put 2 huge magnets on the pan last week and they picked up some stuff as well.... Feels much better now, I dont like how much materials I saw, but nothing I can do about that now...... I hope your right about the qt......... I dont think running this trans at a low level is a good idea. Acording to the book it has to be just right or it will mess up......???????????

You're right about the level. To much and I think you will generate excessive pressure. Not enough you generate hear and insufficient pressure.

Mine got new clutches in March and has about 50 hard launches / passes on it do I suspect black fluid and fragments.
