Bugs

So it's officially now bug season in Florida. It's my first summer with my vert. Do you guys use your verts as much with all the bugs out? If so any advice?

I have a clear bra. Not worried about bugs.

I keep hearing about this "clear bra". I get that it's a thin clear layer, but what's the point? To protect the paint? Does it make cleaning the car easier? Would having a good coating of wax do the same thing?

Evlar- get a good, thick coat of wax on there... I generally use a polymer base wax for my regular waxing, but a thick coat of Nu-Finish this time of year... there's lots of tricks ppl swear by, but I use Turtle Wax Bug remover and a bug sponge (has the perforated outter layer)... spray it on, wait a few minutes; the sponge takes them right off... then wipe with a micro fiber rag, it actually comes out looking freshly washed and no streaks...

Love bugs suck. Especially top-down at long traffic lights. But (knock on wood) it seems like this Spring is gonna be light... almost done already... until the fall.

P.S.- you coming to the BBQ next weekend???

Thanks, Kev. I use the tutrle wax bug remover as well. For the the wax, I use Meguiar's tech 2.0 wax. I try to put on a good coat every couple of months. My only complaint is the little rocks that tear up my front bumper ont he highway. Not sure what to do about those...

I PM'ed you on the BBQ.

This is a business in my area that applies the "clear bra". Check it out, it'll help to shed some light on it for you re; its purpose, how it's applied, etc.

You should have similar businesses in your neck of the woods.

I simply clean my car no less than once a week and if I get too much "carnage" on my car I simply take a hose and blast the bugs away!

I have had zero chips in the front of my car even after one year of operation. I do have a chip in the window...

I wax the bra along with the rest of the car. So what's the point? The bra takes the damage, can be easily cleaned and replaced if need be. I have a 5 year warranty.

Based on all the cars I've had and chips & damage with and without, I think the bra is money well spent.
