Paint Fade?

When you remove your vinyl stripes down the road, will the paint under the stripes be the same shade as the parts that were not covered by the stripes? Kind of like how you get a tan when you wear a tank top, and your arms are red, and your torso is pasty white?

If you peel them off the paint underneath will look newer.

why exactly would you remove the stripes later, unless you're getting replacement ones?

to me it would be replacement ones. I mean maybe if you did something stupid like get orange on a black car. But I would think that in order for a mark to be left over or the paint around the sticker to fade that much quicker would take a few years, all would depend on if its in the garage and waxed, etc.

what if you had the stripes on for say a year or two and wanted to change the look of your car and removed them. I would assume the paint under the stripes would be newer looking and that would be dorky. If you get them painted on, do they sand down all of the area, or just paint on top of your current paint?

If you take care of your car with regular washes and wax jobs it should look the same for at least 3 years. If you garage it, even longer.

ok cool. I was thinking about doing white or silver stripes with IBM. Maybe in the future take them off as they start to show signs of aging.

Don't put stripes on if your worried about future paint in the future.

These paints are uv resistant they don't fade. They will wear down to primer before fading.

No you won't. It's not 3rd generation anymore. Starting with later 4th Gens they improved the UV resistance. And that depends on if it's garage kept or stored outdoors. If cover or not. If overbuffed or not.

The colors won't fade. The paint will actually come off before it fades.

I have a 10 year old Vic Red truck and it's not faded and has been outside in Texas sun for 10 years.
