285/35's all around Toyo Proxes R888

Not sure if any one has ran this tire but thinking of finding a another set of rears 20X9 and running 285/35R20 toyo's R888 front and rear but looking a reccomened wheel size was 9.5-11". These would just be for autocross as currently we have the factory 20's and Pzeros for street and have bought a set of take off 20's with pzeros for autocross just looking for a slightly shorter overall height and alot more sticky tire and more rubber on the ground in the front. DOT compotition tires always seem to be wider than normal street tires even in the same size.
Any help would be great from the guys running track day/autoX that have ran compotition tires.

That's the same size as ZL1 fronts... I took a look at the Toyos recently. The Eagle F1s are also the same price.

F1's look to be a 220 tread wear tire and the R888 are a 100 tread wear tire im just trying to find a stickier tire than the pzero's that were also a 220 tread tire since these will be track only

ZL1's are 9"or 10" front wheels i forget?

Yeah... I think the Toyos will be perfect... I just threw out the F1 info since I just had to buy one and had the price handy...

Your ideal wheel width with a 285 is 10". I run 20x10 ET35 all around with Pedders XAs (stock struts won't clear) on Pilot Super Sports 285/35-20. They have a tread wear of 300, stick better than Pirellis and cost less than Toyos. Experienced drivers that I have discussed this with were telling me 100 tires would only give me a second or two better times over the Pilots. I do high speed auto-x, so I could make up that time improving my driving. Thought the Pilots were a better deal at $348 ea.

Just noticed you have an LS, so not sure about the struts and clearance.

Id assume that if you were to put 285's on the stock 9" and place it in the front that it would clear? Considering the stock 275 rear wheel and tire clear on the front just fine.
Im just not sure at what point does too wide of a tire hurt you performance wise on a slightly narrower wheel than recommend with tire roll and how the tire was designed to work with a wheel?
Toyo's "recommend" wheel size for that 285 is 9.5-11"

I'm looking into new tires, I like both these tires(zl1 and toyo) which sizes can fit on the stock rs 20' rims

i also would recommend a 10" wheel. a plus 35mm offset will clear if you aren't running a lot of camber. But...for a good track allignment with those 285s...you are going to have to get out there on a 10"...like 30.

If your panning on daily driving those toyo R888 they will not last long at a 100 tread wear they are very soft. the eagle F1's are a street tire with a 220 tread wear that will last alot longer in comparison

That R888 285 is really perfect on a 10. We ran a set for testing on one of our own Camaros with the Scarallo Drift-R, 20x10 front with 285 and 20x11 rear with 315

I run r888s on all four tires for high speed road course. I've been through quite a few different tires and these are by far the best in my opinion. They stick like freakin glue through the turns. I run a 295 up front and a 305 in the rear on 19" rims. With coil overs I have no problems with rub.
