Thought I saw a ZL1. . . Egg on my face

Let me set the mood.

It was friday night about 80 degrees no wind, I was at a light of an intersection turning right. Look left for oncoming traffic and there she is a white ZL1 in the left lane speeding past traffic. My first thought was "Man thats a beautiful car," I wanted a closer look. I take the right turn and merge with the speed of traffic, about a mile down the road I'm 2 cars back in the next lane. Later down the road I pull up near him and I'm thinking "Damn those rims are kind of small", then I noticed there was no badging on the rear, the spoiler was the factory RS spoiler and dual mufflers not the quad. I then pull up next to him at the light and I see the 19 inch LT wheels, V6 brakes, and ZL1 badge on the side. All I saw was the ZL1 bumper and hood insert at first. I've been duked what a let down. Guy ended up giving me a thumbs up, and I'm not going to lie I ignored him. Went on my way and felt kinda pissed, but I don't know why. Would you guys have gave him a thumbs up?

I would have gave him a thumbs up. Nothing wrong with modding a car to your liking. After all it is just a front bumper and hood not like he was posing with badges.

Hell yeah! I always give a thumbs up to a fellow camaro guy. IDC if it's a v6 or v8 or if they have made a v6 look like a ZL1 it just shows that he cares about his car and I can respect that. I don't always like what other do to their cars, but that why I have my own that I'm sure other people will have things that they don't like about it.

Yep, the exact reason why I don't particularly care for people doing the ZL1 front end conversion on their non ZL1.

Was OK until you mentioned the ZL1 badges... I'd still give em a thumbs up back.

Dude I'm putting ZL1 appearance items on my car. Get over it? They are appearance items. There is a reason that they are on the more expensive cars. They look better, making you want it more. and dealers want you to buy the more expensive car.

How about going the other way?
I think it would be cool to buy a ZL1 and then make it look like a V6.
Ultimate sleeper.

I think it's great! If he wants to put zl1 badges on his v6, more power to him.

Now I like the last one...
My 1st camaro was a used 1967 that came from the factory with a 6 and had 250 badges on the fenders. I eventually put a 396 big block in it and when i would mess with someone on the strip I would give it just enough to stay ahead. When they asked i said it had the factory 4 barrel option and they would usually nod. I had a lot of fun with that.

I totally respect someone modding their car because I do the same myself, and its your car your money. I just don't understand the badging thing. I was cool with the bumper and ZL1 hood.

Putting pieces on is okay, the badging makes you a POSER, not cool.
