AirRaid

Personal opinions on this CAI plzz. Anyone have any before and after Dyno testing from bone stock to air raid only?.....

I haven't tried any of the others to compare them. It does what it is supposed to do for my engine.

Took me less than an hour to install my Airaid CAI:
However, I have about 8 hours in paint and prep...

Painted it myself, 3 coats of high heat primer, 3 coats of high heat engine enamel Red, and 2 coats of high heat clear. The damn shame is that I painted the ENTIRE outside of the filter housing. And you only see about 30% of it.

Oh well, I'm incredibly happy with the finished product, easy install, only took about 45 minutes, and I can't wait to test it out on the road tomorrow!

No Dyno numbers yet but I might dyno again here in the near future. Baseline was 383rwhp/390rwtq. And I want to dyno again just to see where I'm at with the CAI. My only other mod is a borla s-type exhaust, which doesn't do much for power in the first place.

Then again, people always say it's one of those "seat of the pants" mods that you feel more than you notice on a dyno graph.
I personally thing it's the best for it's price.

I have an AIRAID and i recommend it to anyone... first of i was recommended to get that intake by thetuningschool because they were going to be tuning my car...its a nice big intake that makes a noticeable difference. bone stock i had 315 to the wheels then after the intake exhaust and tune got to 412... also it was very easy to install it was my first time doing anything to mycar by myself and i did it in about an hour...GET IT!

Not a bone stock comparison, but, we made about 17 to the wheels after we installed the Airaid and tune.

Intake, exhaust and tune = almost 100hp??? Sorry, I'm calling

Don't mean to start anything but that just isn't possible.

He was probably on the low octane table to begin with. For a regular V8 on the high octane table, that sounds like a normal gain with a tune and CAI.

I hope that was typo on his part.

That's far from normal. Most stock LS3's dyno right around 370 to the wheels. Gaining 42whp from a CAI and tune isn't possible. Add in LT's and you're right there.

Hello hightower,

Cool pictures, I am digging the red paint.

I am going to add these to our Facebook album if you don't mind

Thanks,

Could be. Even with headers, intake, exhaust and tune, there's no way anybody's getting 100 HP. It's more like 50.

I haven't heard anything bad about AirRaid, but I prefer the closed-box systems like CAI, inc. Jannetty did an awesome test on intakes, so check out these results:

and here is the spreadsheet:

I remember reading about a guy on here with an auto getting under 300 to the rear wheels, like 285 rwhp or something, it was unbelievable. Then he explained he was on the low octane table and after a tune, CAI, and exhaust he was up over 350.

Now of course I can't guarantee any of this, but it's just something I heard.

But if you think about it, the 315rwhp part is the unbelievable part, not so much the 412 rwhp part. So who cares what dkg11 says his first run was.
All that matters now is that he's at 412.

Yeah, I could definitely see an L99 pulling 315, depending on the dyno, but for the LS3 to pull that, something would have to be severely wrong.

I think I've seen a few dynos from 2009 posts where people were under 300 rwhp. Probably before the glorious fuse pull was discovered. The year 2009 BFP (before fuse pull, lol)

I bought the AirRaid! It's sitting in front of me along with new tools to install cause I owned 0. If work permits I will be doing a Dyno test before and after to see my real world gains. It will be official to my area. I will also take note of the current weather since I've read that makes a difference. I may even to a dyno tune to have all comparisons on hand. So long my wallet permits. D@mn! I got the itch to mod I need a fix!
