Borla S-Type

I'm thinking of putting this exhaust on my car. Anyone have it on their L99? If so, how does it sound. I really can't get a good feel for it in any video I've watched. Figured I'd ask the experts on here. Also, I'm in the N. Va area, and need to get hooked up with a good shop to do the work. Anyone know of any around here? I take my truck to a local shop for its maintenance, but not sure I trust them with my car. Any help is greatly appreciated.

It has a nice deep tone without being too loud. It does have a little bit of drone. You will want to pick up a Range AFM Delete Module if you do not already have one.

I have it on my car and absolutely love it, I get a lot of compliments on how throaty it is too.

i have it though i have an ls3, best way i can describe it compared to other exhaust's is deep. It doesn't have that nasty high pitched raspy sound many other catbacks suffer from, just a nice muscle car sound.

When you get it, I want to hear it.

I got a Range if you need to try it after your exhaust.

I am worried about the drone on the Borla, and am leaning towards the Solo with the J-pipe.

You talking Cat Back or Axle Back?

Jim

I also have the cat-back on an LS3. The drone is extremely annoying with headers which on my car kicks in at 70 MPH. Without headers it started at 75 MPH.

I am happy with the sound, but not the drone any more. Given the chance I would buy something else. Yeah I could have J-pipes welded on but not sure I want the extra weight.

As for an installer, it's a muffler system. No rocket science there, any decent mechanic you trust can install it. I took mine to my regular auto guy and they actually were excited to work on it. Came back just fine. Cost me only $100.

I don't really hear a drown on mine unless I have my AFM active. But dude if I were you it is sooooo easy to install it if you get the catback unless you are truly just getting the exhaust!

Cat Back.
How do you like the Range?
Did you get the pictures I emailed you?

I'll definitely let you hear it...won't be for a bit though...

Catback installed on my 2013 L99. Exactly what I wanted - deep, throaty, no canny sound. Not enough drone to bother me; The Range is a must, though!

I have the Borla S axle back on my stock L99. I'm very disappointed with it especially after reading all of the positive comments beforehand. Maybe there's something wrong with my car but it has a deep buzz or hum sound more like a V6 especially in the 1500 rpm to 2000 rpm range. Some of it is drone and part is due to the AFM. It sounds better with the AFM turned off but it doesn't have that growl that I was looking for. As soon as I figure out what I'm going to do next I'm going to sell them.

I ordered the S-Type for my 2014 SS, but have to wait several weeks to ship since its a new product. Will have to wait and see about this drone thing I keep hearing about. I don't spend a lot of time up in the 70's now, but a drone on a long trip could be irritating.
