Paying cash doesnt matter at all. If you can find a dealer to let you have a 2013 ZL1 for MSRP and charge you no tax, title, and tag fees, jump on it!!! My 2cents.

If you can get MSRP go for it, But I'm sorry everyone that is the end user of a motor vehicle should be paying tax. (except for the tax exempt such as schools and churches)

Paying cash won't get you anything special, the dealer will actually lose money on cash deals and would prefer you didn't.

I also avoid large cash purchases, they are a big red flag to the IRS.

...if you can pull that one off I will take you out for a steak dinner ...that probablilty falls under the slim to none catagory I would say. Times are tough, money's tight, but the ZL1 is a constrained, controlled, and difficult to get piece that won't hit the discount aisle IMHO because it won't be around long enough. The Gen 6 won't carry the model I predict. Get 'em while you can. MSRP is the price, with the associated plus taxes, tags, destination charges, gas guzzler tax...etc.... Dealers will come off ADM, but not MSRP....with no attracton needed to get a buyer.

I got mine for $600 over invoice - $1000 Gm card, -$500 rebate, which I thought was very fair. I have known the owners for years and have bought a lot of vehicles. They wanted me to have it as much as I wanted it knowing I really appreciated the car. I told them I paid too much and they owe my 2 oil changes.

Why wait. If you are confident your house will close, I'd say do the finance. At the most you may have to make 1 car payment and then pay the rest off when you get the cash from your house. Just a thought. I'd do it.

You can get preferred pricing pretty easy on a ZL1.About the same as invoice. You just have to find the right dealer. There is 2 listed on here for preferred pricing.

I saw something about a discount because they were a major buyer of vehicles from GM, however, us regular Joe's will not get any deal on tax, tags, or other ordinary add ons. RJ, please define what you refer to as "easy preferred pricing" and what that means to ordinary consumers looking to purchase. You are a bit vague. Thanks.
