Do you think Gm should do this

I had an idea and thought GM should do. I think it would help calm all these insane people.

Wouldnt it be cool if you GM had a interactive tracking system. Once you got your order number you went to a website and could track this your self, this would make people happy and get them to stop bothering CS and their dealers. Also once in production if they had cameras in the plant and attached a sensor or something to your car and you could watch it get built and download the video to have forever. Now this cost money and GM doesnt need to be spending undo dollars, also plants in cameras might give away trade secrets. Wouldnt even have to videos just still shots. I just think they could set up something relatively cheap that customers would enjoy.

under normal circumstances........this isn't an issue.

they will not spend the $$$$ to impliment. by the time they put it into practice, all orders will be completed anyways.

Yeah $$$$$. Let 'em keep building cars. The more they build, the more money they make.

i agree the money factor, but it would still be cool. I dont see the problem with letting people access a work bench kind of program, to set up a website would be minimal in cost.

I think the website to at least track your order would be cool.

I wouldn't want them to do anything else for fear it would disrupt the system and slow down production, just keep building those camaros.... and hurry

It's not just the money factor, though (well, kind of). It's also the time it takes for this project to finish R&D, then testing, then implementation.

So if you're calculating the man hours and everything, it would probably be a huge undertaking.

I was hoping it was something like you suggested when we got those pictures of our cars with a number to go on the website.

not really because you have an off shoot of the system that the dealers use workbench or whatever it is and just give the customers guest rights or whatever, without any sort of access. Im sure a computer geek could figure it out quick. There has to be computer geek on here that has some input that could make this an easy doable thing.
