Who drives their Camaro to escape life's problems?

Who drives their Camaro's to escape life's problems? I do !

For the past few days my wife and teenage daughter have been at each others throats. I tried to broker a peace deal, but they both turned on me.

So I hopped in my Camaro and took off like a bat out of hell. An hour of hard driving and a wanton disregard for the posted speed limit found me at the Pacific Ocean. I stopped at Bodega Bay and had a bowl of clam chowder.

On the way home, I picked up a t-shirt for my daughter and a bottle of wine for my wife. Domestic harmony restored.

I am curious who else uses their Camaro for mental health purposes

After a long night at work there is nothing quite like the drive home in my Camaro with nothing but empty highway in front of me.

I do...unfortunately I am right back to those problems in 20 minutes as I get to work. LoL. I try to enjoy leisurely drives, but get harassed by local cops, CHP, etc all the time. Cars not a problem to me...I love it...but it's becoming a BIG problem FOR me. LoL. No escape I guess.

I'm a firm believer in using your passions to maintain a healthy state of mind so driving my Camaro, riding my Harley, and playing my guitar keeps me outgoing, active, and for the most part happy.

I'm not quick to get angry or frustrated or have a low tolerance for people because I'm involved in the things I enjoy and when bad times kick in I'm able to deal. I don't get drawn into the drama or get in peoples way.

...except for my girlfriend. If that chick keeps nagging me she'll find herself buried underneath my house with the rest of the corpses.

I'm kidding.

I'm fortunate to live in an urban interface area where I'm close to civilization, but there's a whole expanse of country roads, foothills, and multiple mountain passes not far from me.

I was born in the early 80's and started appreciating music in the 90's, so sometimes there's nothing better than cranking up my favorite angry guitar music and going for a spirited drive where I can really stretch the car's legs. I leave in a funky mood, and I return feeling refreshed and ready to deal with life's problems again.

No matter how awesome a person's life is, everyone has problems.

Not unlike some of you folks here, I have a happy home, 3 kids, an amazing woman, a good job, and a pretty cool chow chow dog

Sometimes though, a guy needs nothing but the sweet sound of a roaring LS3, some good tunes, and a nice open road to find harmony.

I work in the service industry as a poker dealer. I have to be on the ball 100% of the time. If I'm not, I could make an error that will cost one of my players a good chunk of money, this in turn costs me money over both the short and long term. I have to appear happy, friendly, and empathetic regardless of my mood. I have to work in an industry that is notorious for sucking the soul right out of a person. I've been doing this for over 10 years now. To be quite honest, I love my job, but it is mentally and emotionally exhausting. (How many of you get cursed at on a daily basis, of those who do, how many of you have to sit back and say essentially nothing in return.) I am regularly blamed for a plethora of things that are not my fault. (You had pocket aces, but still lost because you called an all in on the flop with a completely suited board? yep definitely my fault.) Anyone ever have a stack of 25.00 chips thrown at them? Cards in the face? LOL Probably not many of you. (Although I'm 100% positive that most all of you deal with something in your life that is equally distressing fairly regularly)

Before I start sounding like a whiner, I also REGULARLY interact with intellingent, funny, GENEROUS and caring people. I've made life-long friends through my work. My Job is a BLAST, there's always action, and typically: my shift goes bye very quickly. However as I mentioned before, keeping an even temper, running a game at a fast, smooth pace can take it's toll. I'm good at my job, and I actually care about making my players gaming experience a good one, win or lose. No matter if I have a great night, or a horrible night (I work for tips btw, so it does vary) I am ALWAYS completely shot by the time I leave work.

I leave work late at night, the absolute best feeling in the world is hitting my key fob as I walk up to my car, seeing the halos come on, getting in and hearing that cold start roar! (Long tubes, HF cats, and a muffler delete. Good morning.)

I have a 30 minute drive home from work. I can take the thruway, or two remote highways home. No matter what road I take, by the time I get home, I'm usually chilled right out. It's AMAZING how theraputic these cars can be if one really enjoys driving.

I call it my sanity ride, and it starts when the SS starts and I back it out of the garage. A little rumble from the caged up horses ready to run and throw in some bad ass tunes and it's on !

I've done it with every car I've owned. Haven't had one of "those days" yet. But, I'll assume that won't change here.

I DO!!! Nothing better than starting up the beast and running with 400 horses!!! When the ride is over, I turn it off, let out a big sigh, and re-join reality already in progress!!

Glad to see that I am not the only one. A rough day ay work is relieved by that right turn out of the parking lot followed by a (responsibly) heavy right foot!

I am also finding that this orange lady can work her magic when parked. I am convinced that a two bucket wash, some clay, or just sitting reading her manual in the garage can lower my blood pressure.

I found that when I get stressed if I can get out in the Camaro for about an hour I feel more relaxed. Just something about that car that sooths the soul.
If its a nice day a drive in the mountians with the top down will make you forget any troubles. At least for a while.
