NoWeeds

Has anyone tried the Noweeds diverters yet? Sounds like a sweet set up. The video is flipping awesome! And it would be a bit cheaper for those of us on a budget.

Based on the picture below, all I can see here is a really good way to flood the cabin with exhaust fumes and excess heat.

Its a nice option if you want to be able to run open headers for racing......but keep your quiet for regular driving. We have at least a few guys in my car clib that has electric cut-outs.....dojn't know if they are that brand or not though.

My friend had them on his Camaro and they were awesome. They seemed really well made and it was a great way to go from loud to quiet at the push of a button.

Do a search, there is lots of info about these on C5.

There's also a DIY in the DIY section for installing these.

They are not cheap and they dump the exhaust under the driver seat.

I went with QTP (~1/2 the price) and had them welded behind the rear axle (+$90), right before the mufflers.

Maybe - if you ran that way all the time and did a lot of idling in enclosed places. But in the real world - heat and fumes are not an issue.

I have the DMH cutouts and they are a hoot! Everybody including me loves to hear mine running uncorked. The cam lope is addictive and running up and down through the gears is awesome. Now I do not run with them wide open very often or for long periods of time. That is just too loud for everyday driving. I do often ride around witht them cracked open enough to hear my LS3 music but not so loud as to draw undue attention.

To the OP - if you can swing the money cutouts are a great toy for these cars.

I'm running NoWeeds with a JRE rough idle cam and let me say... It's the best mod combination I've ever heard on a car. I haven't noticed any difference in temperatures inside the cabin, even in traffic. The fumes? Nonexistent since its a car, you drive places... I think the best perk of Noweeds vs a catback is not only the price... But when you want to be loud and sound awesome, you click a button and you are. If you're going on a road trip or driving late at night/early morning, you click a button and you're just as quiet as stock. Fantastic mod. Easy as heck to install too. I'd recommend if you do it yourself in your drive way, unbolting the exhaust bracket just aft of cuts you make and dropping the catback to make the cuts. WAY easier if you don't have a lift.

Good luck with your decision.

Just for reference, I've had QTPs for the past two years. I bought them before I took delivery of my car and was unaware of the NoWeeds option, if it was even an option at that time.

I just ordered a set from NoWeeds and plan to ditch the QTPs. The QTPs don't use sensors to determine when the valve as fully open or fully closed. As a result, the motors fail frequently. Each time I get a new motor, it's a slightly different design. The latest design was just slightly larger and is rubbing one of the heatshield studs and makes an ugly noise at when the car is cold. Had I started with this design, I could have had the cutouts shifted with enough offset to clear the stud, but I can't do much about it now. The worst part about the QTPs was being afraid to open them. I rarely open them, because I'm afraid that one of them won't close all the way and leak. The leak makes the car sound like a clunker. They often failed to close all the way, because of motor failures and the set screws on the valves loosening.

I'm done fussing with the QTPs, and decided to go with the NoWeeds. I can't wait for them to come in.

This isn't to say that QTP doesn't have good customer service, because they do. But as I said, I rarely got to enjoy them, because I feared they wouldn't close and then I would have to jack up my car to fix them again.

I also have the DMH cutouts and love the hell out of them. They are a "fun" mod.

I was going to get the QTP's also. There only about 375.00 but I have heard their motors fail quite often. The NoWeeds are around 900.00 but also come with a 2 year warranty. Im saving my $$ to get the Noweeds they look cleaner and the sound for some reason is deeper then the QTP's.

Because the no weeds is all the exhaust and qtp is shared with your catback
