Engine clatter on startup

I have noticed twice now that when I let my camaro sit for awhile, a day and a half or more, when start It I hear clattering for a second or two then it goes away. Both times have been with the remote start so I wasn't able to see the oil pressure. I've found on other forums regarding other vehicles explanations from timing chain to oil drainage leaving the top end dry on startup till oil pressure comes up. What do you all think? sound normal or should I take it in? My only apprehension about taking it in in is the dealer will need me to leave it for a couple days so they can let it sit to try and duplicate. Which I'd rather not do unless necessary.

All my cars and trucks that I have had with LS based engines have done that.

What it is - when the engine stops at some random position. A couple valves might be open. 1, 2, or maybe none. If a lifter just happens to stop right on top of the cam lobe, over a few days spring pressure will force the oil out of the lifter and collapse it. That one lifter will clatter a couple times until the top end has oil pressure.

The higher performance engines it is more noticeable because of higher lift cams and stiffer springs.

Supposedly there is new lifters being designed for sometime in the spring '10 that don't bleed down like that. But even if they do come out with a revised lifter, I won't be messing with it. Because they have done it forever, don't cause a problem, and to change the lifters requires the heads to be removed. I'd rather hear a tap tap a couple times a year.

If it goes away in a matter of a couple seconds, don't sweat it. That's all it is - the lifter that had spring pressure on it bled down over a couple days.

Yah, that is all it is, perfectly normal and nothing to worry about.
