Need help with cams!!

Hi guys...unfortunately I don't have much knowledge when it comes to these things, yet I try to learn and apply while dreaming of big numbers on the dyno!!

My 2010 SS is making 391RWHP on a mustang dyno with kooks LTH, Corsa cat-back and a no-tune version Vararam intake and a custom tune already on it. According to my tuner, for some odd reason his dyno shows lower figures than other mustang dynos and he reckons my car is actually putting down 420RWHP.

Now, the thing is that I am aiming for between 600-650RWHP and have decided to go with SLP's TVS2300 and alongside want to install cams too. As I mentioned earlier, I don't know nothing about cams and this is where I hope you boys will be able to help.

As you already know, I've got a supercharger on the way and want to get cams. I don't mind something with a mild to choppy idle...but also want to leave my car as a daily driver. I really hope you guys can help suggest which one to go with. I've been told I should stick to comp cams but what or which stage...no idea. I have also been suggested to go with the corvette ZR1 cam but the guy I guess was speaking french to me. So please guys....hook me up with the right cam.

P.S. Do share your opinions on the ZR1 cams though if you have any.

well the big question is. do you have a LS3 (manual) or l99 (auto)? if you are putting 420WHP with the headers intake setup, you must have a ls3.

with that said Ls3s uses a cam. not cams. the Zr1 used a cam. the l99 uses cams. but can be made to use a cam, which is what most do.

Maybe I'm out to lunch here but the L99 is OHV and not OHC or DOCH therefore should only have one cam. GM hasn't made a V8 with multiple cams since the northstar.

Who are buying the supercharger from, ask them. You are going to get a bunch of different opinions! There are venders on this site that sell blower cams, best bet is call them and explain your needs.

Lmao at pouncer72 !! Wow

Bad70supreme is right, I would do the suspension and some Lt's then when your ready to drop the hammer add the supercharger and call comp so they can spec you out a cam based on your goals, hey it's free. Just my .2

I think a lot of people get confused because it has VVT. I can't really think of any other OHV engine with VVT.

by the time I was 19 I was doing head jobs, stroking cranks, polishing exhaust ports, and massaging trannys.

Yeah but could you tell the different between porting 1 head and 2? I would love to see how many people my age what I know about telling the difference between 1 and 2. LOL

And I don't know if I'd tell people about your interest in massaging trannys.
