Fuel Mileage Improvement with CAI intake.

I installed my Cold Air Inductions this winter with about 4300 miles on the odometer and the DIC showing fuel mileage of 17.8 mpg. I did not reset the fuel mileage calculator when the CAI was installed. I have driven a little over 600 miles and the DIC is showing 18.4 mpg. that seems like a pretty good improvement considering the previous 4300 miles were rolled into that calculation and since I am enjoying the new sound it's kind of hard to keep my foot out of it.

I guess I will reset my mpg calc in the DIC and see what happens.

Winter gas versus summer? I've never seen any mpg difference plus or minus, between stock, C.A.I., Halltech, or Vararam. If there was a difference it wasn't enough to make note of. I've averaged 19.x to 20.x mpg combined over the past 37k miles.

I got a huge bump in MPG after I installed long tube headers, full exhaust, and a CAI and got a custom tune. At 65mph on flat ground, in cruise control, my MPG reading is a steady 28.1. While this may not be completely accurate, it shows an improvement of the same speed on the same road the day before the tune when the car showed 23.9mpg.

Needless to say, my tuner is a guru!

I don't put winter gas in my car.

My biggest gas mileage gains came from driving 65-70 and airing my tires up to 36 psi. I can maintain ~26 that way. Drive 80 and it drops to around 21.

My mileage went up about that as long as I drove like I did before the cold air kit......

If your factory tune is on the rich side you should always see a improvement if driven the same. Winter/Summer fuel mix also has a impact.

+1, Especially on my truck which gets 12 mpg at best! We hear anywhere from a 1-4 mpg gain, but I would say around 2-2.5 is most common. It mostly comes down to driving habits. Curious to see what the OP gets!

I did a dyno pull and the f/a ratio was quite rich.

Stay tuned (no pun) I will reset the DIC and see what number it throws after several hundred miles.
