HELP foglight wiring non-rs to rs

my existing wires are purple and black(non-rs), i had to buy new plugs because my previous ones melted and bought RS plugs because they were the first to pop up, my new wires coming from the plugs are blue and black, am i safe to say that i connect black to black and blue to purple?

I have a GM manual, it shows as Blk and purple, but every other connector it shows, (and it shows a lot) that has Black, Black has been Ground.

Heck, they are even AC/DC

LEDs do care. You won't hurt them going backwards, they just won't illuminate. They are DC only.
You got that reversed, You can put 12V to a reg Bulb either way, But an Led has to be put in correctly or you'll burn it out. (That's why some come with a Diode, which will prevent the current going the wrong way.)
