Tune question

If I tune my camaro, then take it back to factory tune, will the dealership know it was tuned if I take it in for work?

Yes they can know. There is a flash counter they can check if they have reason to. Whether they check or not, well that's a crap shoot. Be prepared to lose your warranty.

There are many threads on this if you are interested in more information.

Okay, but checking the flash counter isn't something mandatory for them?

This. It is not done routinely, like if you go in for an oil change, but if you take it in for a drivetrain issue that is the first thing that they are required to do. Here is a copy of one of the bulletins.

Since you have a LFX they can tell that you have been tuned. If you had a LLT you would of been good as LLT doesn't have a flash counter.

Yes the LLT's are undetectable and Vince includes a transparent mode on all tunes to further prevent this. But nothing's is ever certain with technology these days.

I believe only the ECU is, The TCU has a Reflash History last time I check it.

So what was up with that weekend Nikos? I never heard the outcome.

Also on topic- When I was having ignition issues and took it to the dealer, I didn't even return to stock (with that big blue IM sitting on top why bother)- and I know they ran multiple diagnostics, etc.. They had no idea it was tuned.

I had to reassure the mechanic it was OK to put my ported IM back on- he was worried it wouldn't run right since it didn't have a tune!!

"Don't worry" i said, "it's in there."
