zl1 convertible info

After two years of reading about the coming of the zl1 and studying every document I could find regarding the car I am finally the proud owner of a 2013 zl1 convertible.

To my surprise I failed to educate myself to all the details of the convertible. Don't get me wrong, it's not a deal breaker but it it is something I wanted to share with others looking to get a convertible.

The 2013 zl1 camaro convertible DOES NOT COME WITH THE PERFORMANCE TRACTION MANAGEMENT OPTION (PTM), meaning you do not get the 5 different race modes. You still have tour and sport modes and traction control..on-off.

I didn't purchase my vert for the purpose of racing but there still wasn't much documentation on this issue in all the literature. You have to read carefully to catch it. I am just interested in what you get as far as your tour or sport modes on the convertible. Anybody have any info on this?

You shouldn't have to worry to much about the details in a hurry .
After all the winter is moving in and so is the cold temperatures , so storage the car and read all you can about it .
PS Send the car to CA and i will do for you the break in per specks , and for FREE , what a bargain .

I have a convertible and I love it.

I don't run it like some guys on this forum (track, etc. . .). Maybe someday.

Frankly, I'm so happy with the active suspension and steering . . . I don't really think I care about the PTM. I can adjust suspension and traction control. Makes me pretty happy. Still drives like a dream.

If I were serious about racing, I would have a coupe, perhaps with a roll cage. (I'm talking serious).

what I have is an incredibly powerful car (WAY more than I need), under full warranty, somewhat rare, fantastic handling and incredibly sexy.

It sounds good too.

As I understand it, my convertible is the most powerful convertible Chevy has ever produced. That's pretty badass. (the ZR1 'vette isn't a convertible).

Did you also know your convertible is speed limited to 155 while the coupe tops out around 184ish? I've heard that GM engineers won't certify the convertible top for more than 155 MPH.

The Tour and Sport modes are two different settings for the mag ride shocks.

I did not know that. Has someone confirmed this? On a racetrack because no one here would exceed the speed limit.

From what I just read the 2013 427 Vette does the quarter mile in 11.8, and 0 to 60 in 3.8 seconds. The ZL1 convertible is 0 to 60 in 4.1 seconds with available Hydra-Matic® 6L90 automatic transmission. Or one that can cover a quarter mile of pavement in a mere 12.3 seconds and tops out at 155. The ZL1 coupe is 0-60 in 3.9 and 12 seconds... That is according to the official Chevrolet pages...

I just sold my 2012 ZL1 coupe and ordered a new convertible today. I didn't know it was that much slower than the coupe and didn't have the PTM modes.:(

Thanks all for the break in help guys! unfortunately she is sleeping in a climate controlled garage for the winter. already got salt on the roads here in chedderland. I was just surprised that they dont have much info on what you get in sport mode or tour mode with regard to ride control. Stiff, halfway stiff, soft halfway soft? Doesn't matter... it will be fun learning how to peddle this bad ass beast! Love the car. the tranny is so much nicer than my 06 GTO tremek. can't wait till spring.

He said most powerful, not fastest. The ZL1 IS more powerful than the 427 vert vette, by about 75hp

I didn't say FASTEST convertible.
I said most POWERFUL convertible.

The 427 convertible produces 505 HP, not our 580.
(It's lighter)
