Crankshaft Stock HP..

Not sure I want to lay down 1500 on a Forged crank. I have seen several people here making 900 to 950 hp on the stock LS3 crank(bottom end for that matter). I have only heard one story a C5 fest last year where a crank failed and it was flex more than breakage from hard launches which I'm not interested in. I would say 99% are pistons or rod breakage.

With that being said I do want to invest in the best rods and pistons.

The crank however is still in the air to just use the stock one or a chinese junk they seem to be a wash by most people opinions!

This is the V6 section. No one here is getting close to where well break the crank. Just as a heads up.

Just go to your first post and click the report icon, then ask them to move it. You can PM one of the mods (MLee is in this section a lot) and ask them to move it.

You can do 900 HP at the crank no problem. I've got a couple of friends that are over 800 at the crank and drag race a lot (A LOT)...they have had no problems at all. 1500 at the crank...that won't last. Fortunately for you, there are lots of after-market cranks for the L99/LS3 (not so much for us V6 guys). When it comes to rods and pistons you have your choice. You might want to look into Calle rods and Diamond pistons. Good luck.

Yeah, spun a bearing and it bent the crank a little bit. I still can't believe it lasted as long as it did at this power level. When I started the build I had varying estimates of 600 to 900 HP for the crank. If we hadn't had a lean spike on the dyno, I think mine would be fine today so I'm thinking 900 HP is probably not far off. It's nice to know the crank, block and head bolts/gaskets on these things are way over engineered. Pistons and rods...not so much .

Ouch. Well, we cant grow better without failing first. Our blocks are little beasts from what I gather. So I'm feeling pretty good about boosting this car after I pay it off.

Soon....
