L99 vs LS3

So whats the difference between the two?

L99=Automatic 400HP stock
LS3=Manual 426HP stock

V8 version...not sure on the V6, but I'm sure it's a similar increase in HP also.

The V6 engine is the same for both auto and manual.
So, horsepower would be the same.

L99 and LS3 are similar (but different) V8 engines as you noted.
That is why the difference in HP, not because of the transmission.

Yes, thank you. I believe they have a little different internal set-up, making the LS3 produce the higher HP.

L99 can be from 320-350, most are around 340. Mine was 346.

LS3 I believe can be from 360-380 with most falling around 370 I think.

Auto and manual; Auto is for consistency and easier to drive in traffic. Manual is for better control and tinkering when bored.

L99 has a different cam,valvetrain and heads I believe for the 4 cyl mode for mpg., also a large resonator in the exhuast to help the sound. The cam has lower lift, makes better low end torque where the LS3 cam makes more mid to top end hp.
