NEED CAR SHIPPING REFERAL
Looking to ship my car from San Diego to Dallas the second week of December.
Anyone have any recommendations for me? I've spoken with Montway and they have reasonable prices except for the fact it's a 5 day window of when they want to pick up the car..... They will pick up on the exact day if I pay an extra $400. and.... not too impressed with their customer service to this point. so..... any recommendations for me?

The last one I used was Horseless Carriage. they shipped my Ferrari from NY to Atlanta. I just looked up the paperwork and it cost $990 for the 900 mile journey. This was an enclosed transport. Well worth it.
Unless you need your car ASAP after you get there, don't pay the extra $. Find out how long they say the car will be in transit also. It took longer than I expected when I had mine shipped. HC was easy to deal with and there were no problems in transit or delivery. i called them one day they picked up the next. They even note any defects in the car (paint chips, scratches etc) before it is loaded on the truck. Hope that helps.

GB, a five day window is typical in the auto transport industry. The carriers run 6-10 vehicles on them and they never know what they will get when they show up. You wouldnt believe how many people have a running car and it just doesnt run once the driver shows to pick it up. So many small things can delay a driver, so having a time frame is better than sitting at home waiting for a driver that doesnt show because of issues out of their control.
Another thing is beware of reviews online. Sure you may see someone companies with excellent reviews and then realize that the review site is actually sponsored by the company as well... BBB is the same way. If you are a member and pay their yearly fee mysteriously negative reviews seem to fall off the face of the earth. Look beyond the normal reviews etc and do some real homework on a company. The industry is a touch one and choosing the right company is critical. In fact, take a look at www.ultimatetransportguide.com it goes over all the ins and outs on how the industry works. Oh, and if you need help shipping let me know. I know trucks running that route weekly. |

Accelerated Services is a good shipping company, their number is 720-200-3100. Ask for Jeremy in dispatch.

What he said! When we ship our Historic Fleet, we use Reliable Carriers exclusively. We also use them for shipping show cars and autoshow cars and many other shipments (other than new cars from the factory....) Over the years, I've received many 'proposals' that would "save us money" - - and when I hear "we can save you money!" -- I think back to something my Granfather used to say. My Grandfather had many sayings - one of them was "...the oats tend to cost more at the front of the horse than at the back of the horse...." -- meaning "you get what you pay for" I'm certain there are many very competent carriers out there - but when I ship cars - it's Reliable Carriers.

I suggest Reliable as well. Got a quote for them to ship a ZL1 from Dallas to California and their quote was actually quite reasonable for an enclosed trailer.

There are a lot of enclosed carriers out there way cheaper than Reliable and do excellent work. I always ship stuff from Barret Jackson and Reliable always sits out front asking for a crap load to move vehicles. The event in Vegas I shipped from, Reliable wanted $1500 from Vegas to Texas. I was setting up people on just as nice of carriers for $500 less!

McNutt transport. I used them to get my car from Utah to WA. They were recommended to me by Becky at Rogers Chevy (from the forums). I figured they shipped a lot of cars. FWIW I went open, and received my car with no damage. Closed was just too much $$. I love my car, but it's not a $200K show car
. Guess if I could afford one of those I could afford closed transport and it wouldn't of been an issue .

no.... Pensacola, via Dallas for Christmas, which is why the car is being shipped to Dallas so I can install all my Christmas presents before driving to Pensacola. BTW- You folks are great.... I'm getting lots of quotes and narrowing it down.... I do have one place that is reasonable (under 1,000 for enclosed) and will give me a 2 day pickup window.... I like that... If I had known this was such a PITA I would have not purchased airline tix and driven it... but last time we drove it we swore "we'll never do this again".
